Probably not gonna ever happen. There were earlier crazy deals for like 64 GB RAM, 18 cores and they still hesitated to give second IP due to "spammers and such".
^ this, yes please
Single core. Stock server 2012 install, idling hard. This was awhile back. IIRC it only had like 2-3GB of ram so maybe it was swapping pretty hard during an update or something.
Wasn't my intention to cast doubt on VirMach as a provider, but I know CPU abuse has been an issue for Windows updates in the past. But throwing Windows on a VM with only one core is asking for trouble.
If you're sticking with Linux, I doubt you'll run into any issues as long as you're not hammering the CPU. Their system sends out a warning email before actually suspending the VM as long as you're not pegging the CPU 100% (in which you may be cut off before you get a chance to act on the warning message). I've only received one notice from my hoards of VirMach VMs, which turned out to be sent in error. But like everything else, YMMV.
Cheapest option would be to grab the next ~$5/yr flash special and GRE tunnel the traffic over to your main VM. You'll essentially be picking up the 2nd IP for much cheaper than it'd be to order one formally.
Agreed and those darn spammers. atleast 2 IPs for Nameserver purposes.
This would be great for me if it's not OVZ.
Note that all "Specials" are generally "You buy here, pay here". You can't upgrade them, can't migrate them, and whatnot. So, anyone who thinks they can use their silver tongue to talk a Buffalo buy into LA - it isn't gonna happen.
