Thanks but I see you already have FreeBSD 11.2 isos which is exactly what I needed I might open a ticket to upgrade my slice, super happy with it
Woot!
Francisco
Oh boy, another kiddo that cannot read. I couldn't help but laugh at this, offering fran' services.
Enjoy the ban..
I ended up opening a ticket to upgrade Wasn't sure if Billing was the right department for that but that's what I chose lol. Did a quick freebsd diskinfo on my slab and it's crazy how fast this block storage is!
Interesting people for sure
Awesome. Glad it's working well! I hope to improve things even more in the next day or two.

Just wondering, why is this offer thread can be bumped?
Is this a kind of Top Provider privileges?
Why so salty? He is not bumping the thread but answering questions. Couldn't find anything about bumping ust the basic rule about you shall not post new offers in less than 10 days or so.
That is not what he means I think.
Offer threads usually are sunk.
Why is this thread not sunk like the rest is the question.
This thread isn't sinking on purpose. It'll start sinking again in a couple of days, it is too good of a deal and such a step forward price wise in the industry to let it go unnoticed.
This is kind of "awesome post / idea" privilege.
Yeah, because Fran f0r 2020 campaign.
I just got my slab set up yesterday, and I have to say I'm impressed! Speeds are very good, and I don't believe there's anything like this at the price point on the market.
So if another provider has a great deal and asks for the same treatment would you grant it? Or is this just a favoritism type of deal?
No one asked for this. If another provider offers something new to the LE market at real low end prices then for sure it'd cross my mind.
Hetzner's cloud thread was set to bump for a few weeks iirc.
Just to clarify: w00th0371n9, αracks and helloformance don't make great deals.
So... Any BF deals coming soon on the slabs?
Not planning anything yet.
Will see what stock we have come then.

The slabs are so damn cheap I ordered another one just so I could turn my single disk zpool into a mirror.
Could you be specific with slabs, like what kind of storage they are..., hardware-wise?
I did a build log over at hostballs:

@Francisco I purchased slice + block storage few hours ago but the status is still pending. Invoice #270042 and just want to know how long will it take to process the order usually.
Their billing department isn't open right now, it's 8-5PM PST M-F. Should get activated when they open.
Yep, sorry.
Francisco
Thanks for your information.
@Francisco
Is there any way for 2 separate vps to concurrently share a slab?
Nope, sorry boss.
I thought about making it so you could mount a volume read-only to any number of VM's and have a single VM with write permission, but it seems extremely niche.
You'd probably have to have a single VM as a NFS box, or you can look to the darkside and use GlusterFS?
Francisco
Didn't think there was a way - and was more of a technical question rather then an actually use case possibility.
So far, the slabs have been great and well worth the cost per TB. And one less dependence on Google (gdrive.)
Is that even possible, i.e. there's support for invalidating the kernel caches of the read-only clients when something gets written?
Fran how is stock holding up for these things? Is the idea to add more drives as needed? Wondering.
You're right, and that's a gongshow in and of itself. Some cluster setup (GlusterFS) or simply having a central box as an NFS/etc are the best options that come to mind.
In the future we may offer an Object Store of sorts, just haven't found a platform to grow off.
We'll run out of slices before we run out of block storage most likely. I built a lot of storage capacity but many people that buy slices don't need the storage.
For those interested, https://buyvm.net/block-storage-slabs/ is the front page marketing we'll be putting live shortly. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
