Unreasonable Invoice by LeaseWeb

So i've been a customer of LeaseWeb for almost 3+ years i have few services on them that only cost 20 USD and ive setted the treshold system to the bandwidth itself so i will not pay for the overusage of bandwidth but the first time in 3 years their system kind of fail on bandwidth limiter and sends me 700 usd i contact them about the issue and they prefer to upgrade the services to the used bandwidth or discount 90% but either of the option i dont have money to pay due to im a bit of financial crisis and the due date is tomorrow and you think will it be okay to just cancel my services and move on and no legal steps would be taken? For really i dont deserve that invoice hike for its not my fault but their system and i dont have the money to pay so. Hoping for reasonable reply. Thanks

It may be worth to give them a call (rather than email, ticket or such) and explain that to them. If you've been a loyal customer with them that long, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to work with you on it or at least come to a solution with you.

  • No sympathy. When the bill came you sort of ignored it. Now you wait until day before and come here. Borrow 70 from family pay bill go without porn for 4 months pay back family. Act like an adult over your obligation

I'll try but the invoice due date is tomorrow and i dont even have the money to pay even the discounted 90% for i was really in financial crisis and i think its not really my fault for i give trust on them for 3 years and its the first time happened that bandwidth limiter error that resulted to that big amount.

I understand but we really dont have the money. And how it become my obligation when the system itselfs generate the error.

As @OmgpleaseRead mentioned, with the deadline being tomorrow you're certainly cutting it a bit close to try to get it sorted.

If you don't have the money to cover the additional invoice but have the money to cover the renewal like normal, the best bet would just be to contact them directly (via the phone) and explain to the support agent the problem you're facing. It is then down to them how they proceed or what steps they do to assist you with it.

    Good luck!

    No sympathy here, either.

Just for future reference...use something like vnstat to monitor your bandwidth (or login every once in awhile to check the bandwidth graphs in Leaseweb's panel and don't rely on just their notification system).

  • I do have sympathy. Contact them fast, preferably by phone.

Ask them to explain how it is possible that this happened, if they have a viable explination and you are at fault take their 10% offer and maybe ask them to spread the cost out over the year?

I had a similar issue with Vultr. I had a machine setup to route some traffic and when I hit my limit, I shut the server down. They did some maintenance on the node and the traffic started to crank up. The bill was only like $100 but they agreed to waive the fee because it wasn't my fault.

Imagine how many poor souls these companies have stolen money from...

...their system kind of fail on bandwidth limiter...

What you mean with "kind of" ?
If you had it set like you should and it failed, then its on them, and they should not bill you at all, and if they bill by mistake (auto job), then they should explain what happened, apologize and void the invoice.

But the "kind of" is intriguing.

That is exactly I wanted to say. If OP set a bandwidth limit on control panel and system allowed to go beyond that then its system error not OP.

  • Is this Leaseweb or Leaseweb USA?

This is actually what happened. Dont mind of kind of its just some english error haha

    Stolen?

  • deankdeank Member, Troll

If it ain't mine, it's all stolen.

  • I think it's time to test my bandwidth limiter with some synthetic traffic.

Last two leaseweb threads make me nervous (see @mridul comment in this thread)

I simply do not understand why cant they stop the server, allow the client to revert back and let him fix things.

A $5 /mo client cannot really afford $2000 Bandwidth, is it so difficult to understand ? I myself got away in 2016 after this event.

Lease web are good, no doubt about that , but I guess we have much better alternatives in 2018 ( especially for the LowEnd market. )
