    You clearly didn't understand anything, let me try again.

    There's 3 ARM products, 2, 4 and 6TB - each product will have their own network settings (they happen to be equal), but during order it will enable the settings on the switch based on the product you purchase.

    If all 3 products had the same typo in the uplink config, it would cause all products delivered to have the incorrect settings on the switch.

    To fix this they'd need to fix the configs for new orders, and update all port settings for existing products.

    Why even buy one when you're "disgruntled with OVH" :-)

    Yep, I see what you mean. Probably too much work for them, and too complicated; better say "everything is working as expected, no problème, please read our manuals online" :)

    • there were no setup fees
    • refunding is possible for 2 weeks
    • they advertise IPv6 + storage + bandwidth (having ~2TB to backup from home at 500 Mbps)

    Well, looks like their offer was misleading, if not a way to make profit from half-baked hardware.
    I already cancelled one of these after hours of fighting with their inane setup (oh and did I mention the rescue system is broken, too?). Just waiting to see whether they acknowledge an error on their side or not, prior to cancelling the second :)

    According to sources, OVH pulled, well an OVH:

    "Thank you for your reply.

    Our System Administrators have complete diagnostics your dedicated server and unfortunately it will be unlikely this will be resolved in a timely manor.
    SYS would like to give you the opportunity to request a refund if you are not satisfied with this product.
    May I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this incident."

    TLDR: Do not expect 250Mbit unmetered for 4.99, do not expect 16 included IP's, do not even expect IPv6, if you want to use it external outside of OVH get a other server within OVH as proxy.

  • Can anyone do some cpu test on their arm servers? I would love to see some numbers compare to n2800 from ks.

    Unfortunately, one can't run Geekbench on these ARM servers but sysbench still works.

    I don't have an Atom for comparaison but I can do it against a DO droplet (which doesn't have the fastest cpu):

    at least I got a reply to my ticket today. ofc it's asking for their standard network-issue procedure like doing ping, mtr and iperf to the dc-internal ovh-server ...

    while this does not help by any means to show the problem, I did as asked and after that added more iperfs to other external servers, explained the real issue again and pointed to this thread again and asked to get non standard replies again and so on :-)

    I don't want to get into a fight or complain at all, I'd just like to get short honest answers and not some unrelated crap from their procedural sheets. hell I told them to please simply be honest if they have no interest in solving this issue at all.

    let's see what will be the next step.

    edit: while writing this, I got another reply, happily this time it was addressing directly what I wrote before. it tells the issue has been escalated to the network team, let's see what they will reply then ;-)

    I'm experiencing the same problem other users have stated with network speeds.

    Internal OVH network I achieve above advertised speeds. Outside OVH Network I get on average 550kbps.

    Apparently its not just OVH internal, GRA => upload to BHS seems to get also throttled.

    So even if its used as backup server internally, they even force you to pick at least the same Location e.g France.

    RBX <=> GRA seems to be fine, no idea about SBG.

    Yep, already tested prior to cancelling. GRA->BHS or BHS->GRA or whatever: as soon as a connection is made to the outside of the room of the datacenter, things get ridiculous.

    edit: also tested GRA->RBX (have an old KS2G there): no way, 550 KB/s.

    Yea, they sell you cheap Storage, 2.5EUR a 1TB, but with a lot of limitations.

    You are forced to use it as onside backup with the same provider, you could have luck end up in a different DC but that's it

    Still no v6, no 16 free IP's, and yea the limit.

    That's exactly why I didn't want to bother with opening a ticket because all they do is ask for a iperf to internal ovh which doesn't show the problem which they kept pulling with the Kimsufi BHS network issues with awhile back too. It just goes round and round and nothing ever gets done.

    I just checked mine now and it's still throttled.

    Indeed 5 Mbps :-( Thanks for pointing this out;

    This is strange (using SSH connection through Filezilla):

    • downloading on a Kimsufi from the ARM (both in BHS) maxess out at 100 Mbp/s.

    • Downloading on an external location to the KS server: 100 Mbp/s

    • downloading on an external location via the same KS to the ARM (through iptables/port forwarding): and limited to 5Mbp/s again ... ??!!

    Tried it twice: both the same results...

    I agree, and I don't really expect them to fix it. but hey, who knows... somehow seemed to be worth a shot. I never dealt with SYS before though being a customer for years now. also I am lucky and get support from their german branch. if they mess around I'll for sure give them a call and stir a pot a little more just for fun ;-)
