Dist-upgrade to stretch on RO nanokvm appears to have worked fine. Thanks for the server!

Its a KVM, its not OVZ, its like magic.

and the webinterface still shows debian 8

    -> thats magic!

    Sadly, thats a common issue:

The template has a script, it has one job, then it removes itself.

Of course, I could have though about that but, fuck it.

I've got one, but being relatively cheap, this type of servers are overused and I get many packets drops too during the daytime, only deep in the night it's ok (past midnight CET). I think all of them have shared "fair" networking (or whatever it's called).

Are there known services with minimal "nano" hardware, but smooth networking, where abusers are punished and eliminated? (as I've noticed, many providers are looking for CPU abuse, but not for networking)

Head over to the LES forum (not to hijack this thread) and post some info so the provider can look into the issue. It might not be known by the provider.

Per Mikho, go over to the LES forum about specific problems. But more philosophically: LES providers are very intolerant of abuse and boot abusers instantly when they detect them. At the same time, keeping a network running smoothly takes considerable attention (i.e. $$$) and the $$$ involved is not part of the LES proposition.

If you run an important service on an LES you are crazy. The LES forum is very clear about that. LES are for experimental and similar services that can tolerate flakiness and interruptions, or that can be built from multiple redundant components (separate LES in separate locations). If you want something more solid than that, you have to pay for it. That should be a no-brainer.

Well, most of them are 100/1000Mbit shared, Cores shared, Disk shared.

Additional its OVZ, so if you get one person, abusing something, you are kinda fucked.

The problem does not only exist with LES, it does exist in general.

But giving someone up to 1Gbit for 3$/y, its bad.

When I compare my dedis I got with vm's I bought somewhere, they have better uptime, less issues.

Maybe its worth to consider, a small dedi like KS1, I have one of these since 5 Years, its solid as fuck.

But, that does not mean now, that vm providers are bad.
LES has some solid locations, and some less solid ones. When I had my LES boxes, Italy was mostly shit, other locations where fine.

You just have more factors, when you buy a vm, instead of a dedi.

I have put as much limits as I can into NanoKVM, to ensure that a single VM will not impact the Node.

Even then, it still can get fucked up.

  • Freebies are always good.

BTW, the website looks nice and clean. One thing I would change is the TOS checkbox wording. I and our doesn't go together on that piece IMHO.

Send me a PM, reinstalling with Proxmox is a pain in the arse.

Especially if the users can reinstall themselves.

Unfortunately that also undermines my security concept what I have.

Everything is stored encrypted and runs with minimal privileges, if the user should be able to reinstall the VM by himself, that would basically need admin privileges more or less.

Obviously, you do not have access to the Proxmox backend, but still.

  • Token seems not to be valid.

Ok ok I'm try again later. Thanks

If you can’t read the requirements in the first post, I certainly don’t see you reading the python docs and doing actual development.
