There are going to be ton of idle baremetal servers once the free trial folks shut down their dedis.
I guess they know what their strategy is better than me. This is a Major investment into bare metal (value for money compared to EC2 even at $300)
Edit : I just realized it might have something to do with the wait for complete Spectre patches. Brilliant then.
Actually math is pretty much my thing. I was just hoping someone already did the calculation and there was probably more to the calculation. Like you mentioned 5$ and CC.
Thanks none the less for the info..
Welcome to my new sig!
So people will use it for mining for a month then cancel.
Yes. 5$ payment, 10min xmrig setup, works ok.
if you kindly ask support, they raise the limit so you can deploy a second instance to get the job done even faster.
Looks like someone cancelled some Game Servers.

5TB on 10GbE? No thanks.
Other than that pretty attractive.
Make $120/month the regular price and it's a nice product. At $300 it's harder to see.
But you almost feel bad not grabbing it at $120 because if you decide you want it later, $300 is going to make you cry. They know this, I'd assume
At $300, it's only worth it with that secretary included.
It didn't occur to me that they'd let people buy it at $120 and not have it go to up to $300 later. In my case even at $120 it's only attractive for occasional hourly use, but that's because I'm an LET cheapskate. It's pretty good for its intended audience.
Would be the ultimate move, and if phrased properly you couldn't even get mad:
"We've listened to your feedback during the promo and decided that..."
Did anyone just get billed for their bare metal instance?
Looks like something goofed with the $100 credit that's supposed to be applied.
Edit: ate up my $10 deposit and $10 free credit for VPSes... gonna hold off on opening a ticket since I assume they are getting a ton from this
+1
Same here; I was billed for $40+ plus my $25 deposit. Will wait till tomorrow and see if they'll fix it up.
EDIT: Fixed.
Post removed.
fixed
no such problems here, my bill has baremetal promo adjustment in the invoice for feb 1, 2018
Post removed.
burned through the whole credit early by playing around with two instances. invoice seems quite right applying the whole credit from the promo and some of the initial deposit.
01-16 01:33 02-01 00:00 32768 MB Bare Metal - x.x.x.x (hostname) 383 $68.40
01-01 00:00 02-01 00:00 Bare Metal $100 Promo 1 -$68.40
Billed as expected for me.
Loving the access to 10Gbps network connectivity - been load testing my Centmin Mod Nginx web server configurations on the bare metal server and limited by 10Gbps, still managed to push Nginx to handle non-cached requests between 5,000-12,000 concurrent nginx active connections with acceptable latency response times below 500ms or up to 60,000-350,000 concurrent nginx active connections with response times ~1.6+s https://community.centminmod.com/threads/vultr-60-discount-free-100-credit-test-drive-vultr-bare-metal-instances.13744/page-2
Bring on 40Gbps heh.

No wonder @Jarland didn’t implement the rule at the time
I’m. More triggered when the OP is removed though, as it’s disrespectful to anyone who took part in the thread.
2x vultr bare metal in proxy vs proxy_cache + backend benchmarks pushing 30,000 concurrent connections https://community.centminmod.com/threads/12904/. So much fun with Vultr promo credits ^_^
non cached proxy Centmin Mod Nginx vhost stats
While playing with anisble as well, just noticed 2 of the 3 vultr bare metal has more memory at 64GB instead of 32GB
looks like the 64GB memory servers are not E3-1270v6 but E3-1270v5 !
Also did some Haproxy load balancing tests on the same 3x Vultr Bare Metal instances https://community.centminmod.com/threads/vultr-60-discount-free-100-credit-test-drive-vultr-bare-metal-instances.13744/page-2#post-59211. So much fun playing with 10Gbps backed network ^_^
Haproxy 1.8.3 was installed with OpenSSL 1.1.0g + Pcre Jit + multithreaded support and custom Cloudflare zlib performance fork for better HTTP compressed request performance.
just got a bill for $55 is that right? it was activated on 18/01
