There are going to be ton of idle baremetal servers once the free trial folks shut down their dedis.

I guess they know what their strategy is better than me. This is a Major investment into bare metal (value for money compared to EC2 even at $300)

Edit : I just realized it might have something to do with the wait for complete Spectre patches. Brilliant then.

math is not your thing, is it?

to spare you some time, you should be able to get about 250-300 ETN out of it for free, depending on your luck and how fast you get everything set up and so on. how much those maybe worth afterwards most likely nobody can reliably tell.

and yes you need to put in a CC or pay at least 5 bucks via paypal if you are a new customer...

Actually math is pretty much my thing. I was just hoping someone already did the calculation and there was probably more to the calculation. Like you mentioned 5$ and CC.

Thanks none the less for the info..

  • Yes. 5$ payment, 10min xmrig setup, works ok. :)

if you kindly ask support, they raise the limit so you can deploy a second instance to get the job done even faster.

    5TB on 10GbE? No thanks.

    Other than that pretty attractive.

  • Make $120/month the regular price and it's a nice product. At $300 it's harder to see.

But you almost feel bad not grabbing it at $120 because if you decide you want it later, $300 is going to make you cry. They know this, I'd assume :)

At $300, it's only worth it with that secretary included.

It didn't occur to me that they'd let people buy it at $120 and not have it go to up to $300 later. In my case even at $120 it's only attractive for occasional hourly use, but that's because I'm an LET cheapskate. It's pretty good for its intended audience.

Would be the ultimate move, and if phrased properly you couldn't even get mad:

Did anyone just get billed for their bare metal instance?

Looks like something goofed with the $100 credit that's supposed to be applied.

Edit: ate up my $10 deposit and $10 free credit for VPSes... :/ gonna hold off on opening a ticket since I assume they are getting a ton from this

Same here; I was billed for $40+ plus my $25 deposit. Will wait till tomorrow and see if they'll fix it up.

    EDIT: Fixed.
