I got it too
Awesome VPS
I guess with a free for life, that if anything went wrong, then you better wait for 1 or 2 weeks (or 1 month?), then open a ticket reporting polity what was the problem! Given how bad I'm treated at times with budget paid VPS
You wanna know what else is awesome? I got both of these free VPS's listed here.
I can understand a provider giving away a handful of free VPSes on a node that isn't quite full, but already profitable. It can be a good way to advertise. If I were a provider, I'd give a few free VPSes away to non-profits or open-source projects, and ask them to put "Server sponsored by _____" or something like that in the footer of their web site.
For the Vmware VPS do you have access to a control panel to re-image/reboot etc?
They provided a link to download vSphere with login details but I haven't tried it yet
I've chose Ubuntu when placed an order but my VPS came with CentOS
Me too here, sent an email regarding this and waiting for their reply. The VPS itself is good and responsive, see:

OMG, the connection speed is more than 100mbps?
I got the same result, it seems they limited the speed at 20MB/s
That's really good for a free VPS!! Majority of my paid VPS seems to be capped at 10 MB/s.. (80 Mbps)
10MB/s is my max speed on most VPSes, but not everytime :P
I couldn't connect to the Control Panel IP they provide with vSphere
@giang
Same here, sent them an email about this
I am curious, what's their plan behind free vps ?
They have earn big revenue and would like to share it with the community? :O
Low cost advertising/marketing ploy.
I got reply from the staff and the control panel is working now. One thing I'm still asking him is how to reinstall the OS. :P
He did it for me
The Control Panel can't even Power off the VM
I don't know what is it for?
Hi,
You can restart your VM machine within your control panel, you can shutdown, reset, suppend, edit your configuration take snap-shots etc.. if you need any help getting to grips with this control panel please create a support ticket and we will be happy to help you.
once again hope you enjoy your VPS
@DreamServers: I mailed pretty early and never got a reply for a free vps
@DreamServers Welcome to the community! Just finished the installation of Debian and everything worked smoothly. Hope to see your LEB offer soon.
Hi & Thanks
!
I'm glad it's going smoothly for you! any issues just either email me or create a support ticket.
Sorry if I haven't replied to everyones emails I've had like 1000 in 48 hours
! however we've given out 45 VPS in the end and we're now at our max sorry
If you did it from vSphere, would you please share me your steps? :P
If you did it from vSphere, would you please share me your steps? :P
I asked James to mount the Debian ISO for the VPS and then boot it into the Debian installer, then you just need to do what we do with a kvm or dedicated server to install the OS from scratch.
Hmm.. I downloaded vSphere the other day but never got around to actually installing it.. This VPS is VERY FAST! I recommend DreamServers to provide lowendboxes also
@djvdorp Did you use puppy-eyes ?
No, I guess I forgot that
@DreamServers will using puppy eyes help blink ?
I want a free vps
Where I can get one?
Again with this?
Oh, and RTFM (thread)
Oh, and RTFM (thread)
Yeah. Shouldn't be RTFT? None of the providers there, works.
So, then don't ask/spam
