  • Depends on your needs, I think... There are also reasons to use FTP without any encryption. Example: Why would you transfer boring ISOs via FTPS or SFTP? Just takes more CPU time and has a large overhead.
    If your route does not need any encryption, go for it. But don't use it for any site-to-site like routes or when transfering sensible data.

    Well I don't need to encrypt anything. Not even online banking, as it is secured with 2FA and I couldn't care less if anyone sees my money/transactions.

    But because I have nothing to hide, there is no need for anyone to check my shit. So now I just encrypt everything and with this chacha or aes-gcm it really doesn't use much CPU at all. :) (from what I remember)
