Okay, guys. I have one of those servers in GRA that I wanted to transfer to a friend. He just told me that he went with Hetzner instead, which I can fully understand. So the server is freely available and I am willing to take the hassle of the transfer process instead of just letting it expire.

Here are the "terms" to keep it as simple as possible:

    • You will receive the server at no extra cost from me. Community spirit and all that.

    • The server expires on 13.10.2016. You have to pay the next bill.

    • You have to have an account with their .DE branch. No other subsidiary.

    • If there are several interested parties, then I will do a tombola to keep it fair for all.

    • All is on best effort basis and "as is". If OVH makes me jump through loopholes, then I am out.

    • I will not hand out server details before transfer is carried out and will not give away the whole account.

    • I will not do any tests on the server. You know the specs already. It would be too time-consuming for me to do individual tests. Simply apply.

Interested? Please send me a PM.
If you fail to check beforehand whether you meet the terms and just shoot out a private message, then do not even expect an answer. (Edit: Really, please read the above conditions. I already received a lot of messages from members who do not meet the requirements)

Tombola, if necessary, will take place Saturday evening, CET. All the best and good luck.

    Caramba,
    Amitz

Edit: Here are the smartmontools results: http://pastebin.com/hvJtdZXm
Please do not ask for drive age in your PM.

  • Have you guys noticed that proxmox is causing some network speed issues? I tried installing from the ISO and then installed proxmox upon Debian, both resulted in like 1/10 of the download speed from speedtest scripts, but the network speed is normal under a fresh installation of Debian 8.

The network speed of my server became much slower with proxmox installed. With a fresh installation of Debian, it could easily download at 100mb/s+ from online.net and some other NL providers, but after the installation of proxmox the download speed stays at <20mb/s. The upload speed didn't seem to be affected as much as the download speed. The server is on the 4.4.19-1-pve kernel.

For GRA speeds of 250Mbps are fine. The OVH iperf server is hosted in their RBX datacenter.

So if you are testing RBX->RBX the bandwidth limit is 1Gbps. For GRA->RBX it is 250Mbps.

some racks at GRA can also reach full 1G upload, tested from online.net :p

and all such server deployed at RBX are all 1G upload, perhaps some configuration difference.

actually rebooting, cause of upgrading kernel to 4.4.19 ;-)

for testing I used the script made by @K4Y5 https://github.com/K4Y5/ServerBench , just cutted out the unneeded destinations ;-)

what setup/config things you like to know? I did a plain jessie install via ipmi, and installed proxmox on top.
running on raid10, raid is fully synced, /etc/network/interfaces looks like this:

    source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*

    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    allow-hotplug eth0
    iface eth0 inet manual

    iface eth1 inet manual

    auto vmbr0
    iface vmbr0 inet static
            address 12.345.67.89
            netmask 255.255.255.0
            gateway 12.345.67.254
            bridge_ports eth0
            bridge_stp off
            bridge_fd 1
            bridge_hello 2
            bridge_maxage 12

PS: just benched again with kernel 4.4.19, nothing changed.

Basically my setup wasthe same as yours, Debian on raid10 and proxmox on top of that, perhaps something was wrong with the network configuration. I'm reinstalling with OVH's proxmox template right now, will see if it works for me.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Update: OVH's proxmox template doesn't have the slowdown, so something in my previous configuration must went wrong. xD

I can pay you via paypal.

    Thank you very much.

P.S. If you have expired order ,hope you can let OVH support reactive it and then transfer to me . Really appreicate it :P
