They do make good profits, that's what a business is supposed to do. Normally they would have competition which would drive the price down, but it doesn't really happen to Apple. On the phone side most hardware manufacturers are pretty much copying everything Apple does, so there is some decent hardware out there. Software-wise Google managed to polish Android recently, but still security is lacking big time.
On the Macbook side Apple doesn't really have competition. You just can't buy a laptop that is as polished, both software and hardware-wise, as a Mac. May be the Chromebook Pixel comes close, but it requires a shift in mindset. Everything else is just crap: virus ridden sluggish OS with blue screens of death even after 20+ years of releases, open source alternatives with half-baked features that may or may not work on the plethora of hardware configurations out there, crappy hardware (blurry screens nowhere near retina display, excluding the few 1000USD+ 4K models), cheap and ugly plastic (Dell XPS may be an exception, but again look at the pricetag, screen and software it comes with).
So Apple is overpriced, but that's because for all intents and purposes they have a monopoly on the QUALITY portable computer market and they LEAD the mobile devices market. Again, I don't own neither a Macbook, nor an iPhone.
Using since about 20 years Macs and since day one the iOS devices. Never had any big issues and it just works. The same after we switched the entire company to Apple products. I don't want to say it's perfect - as its still a computer. But for us, it's just how we like to work. And the price isn't this high when you compare how fewer issues you have. But luckily there is so much different products on the market that I am sure everyone find the right solution.
Their OS and PC software poor quality products, has very low ratings, adware, one or two stars. ITunes, Safari etc. Look into independent reviews. Which percent use PC vs Mac?
Have you looked into the rating of Internet Explorer?
Have you looked into all the extra "crapware" that comes with most new windows PCs?
Have you read independent reviews of what is going on with windows?
Have you looked into all the monitoring that is now being done on the windows platform and all the data they upload to big M?
Have you looked into the now non-existent home media systems that were yanked from the newest windows?
I know you haven't because you are first off too stupid, and second just trying to be a windows fan boy. Honest go fuck yourself.
Go through his posting history - you won't find much of value there... That guy is incoherent and dumb on so many levels that it hurts to be a bystander.
Ah OK only one argument about stupid, troll, fuck off etc etc, any more real arguments?
Look into Fileforum ratings and comments and consider for yourself

This is my own opinions and my own view, do not guarantee about it match with yours and someone else. That we can call freedom of views and democracy.
Ha! You defending "freedom of views" and democracy. It's getting better day by day.
At least not a jail

Itunes rated highly on both platforms. Complaints are sometimes about other issues, and not directly to do with itunes itself.

Rated well here.
I don't even know what fileforum. Never heard of it, and looks shady anyways.
Has an A rating on BBB:

Has no rating: http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/computer-software-publishers-and-developers/microsoft-corporation-complaints-in-mcallen-tx-501264
Safari and IE both shitty.
Personally I use Firefox. Any opinions against Firefox?
That is great, but frankly you ignored most of my post. Secondly I have an iPhone to be clear, and I used to have an android as well. Both were attached to my hip at the same time. I generally preferred to use my iPhone over my android, and as such bought a new iPhone when it came time to replace the Android.
Just because it is bigger, doesn't make it -better-. You also have to note that Apple only makes less then 10 models of phones right now where Android has a few thousand? Yet those iPhones take up over 1/3 of the market. So trust me when I say they are doing very well.
Debian. Thx.
On Mac Safari is actually pretty decent. Especially battery life wise
Hardcoded domain without AAAA record ok?
Yes. Their video shows that all traffic will be routed through a DNS64/NAT64 solution. Their software for high level APIs also does similar translations when presented with a raw IPv4 address. The main concern is when lower level, IPv4-specific calls are made.
You're completely right - Apple's products are consistently rated poorly which is why hardly anyone buys them.
Yep. It sucks. Got tired of the Firefox dictators' poor decisions and I found their product to be a memory pig and sluggish.
I do have an opinion against Firefox. Firefox is a communist browser with no clear revenue streams. When nobody is paying for something, I am paying for it with my freedom, just like in communism. I would much rather use Chrome and know that my personal information and browsing habits are used by the most important corporation on earth to turn into advertising revenue. I know that there is no dictator above me, other than money. It is the one and only source of freedom.
Screw firefox. Screw communism (and its nickname "socialism"). Get rich or die trying. That's my mantra.
50cent, is that you?
Love this thread. My piece of crap is better than your piece of crap. lol
Sounds funny
Let us all admit that they are all fragile overpriced pieces of pure crap.
But what I was saying the article only mentioned the 150? Dollar Samsung's. I know they have more expensive models. I bought my daughter an s5 fit.
As for whIch ones better it's what ever you like. I don't like iOS. Or how fragile I found the iPhones to be.
This coming from a person who's used Apple's since before many on here were out of diapers.
I'm not an Apple user either, just like you I don't like IOS or OSX either.
They are definitely overpriced for what you get (quality and feature wise) in my opinion. But pretty much any new 'high end' device is being sold for ridiculous prices, no matter what brand.
I'd much rather spend $1200 on a Mac that is consistent, friendlier to development, has a successful history of quality products and software, than save money and cut corners with a PC running an unstable, no-privacy operating system, using hardware that will fail as soon as the warranty expires and drops in value by the next fiscal quarter.
M y laptops works wayyy over the warranty, idk what laptops do you buy
Only Macs for the last few years. But many of my relatives and friends who've bought PCs have come to me to solve plenty of their dilemmas with computers that are less than 5 years old.
Maybe sub <$500 ?
Sorry for the delayed responses, I'm not getting notifications from your quoted when I'm set to.
Some of these machines were $700+ Dells, some were $500 HPs, others are around the spectrum.
Didn't 50 Cent write a tutorial on how to build a LEMP stack on Arch Linux? Or am I confusing him with someone else?
He's probably bought HP. I know of one American company that explicitly sets the depreciation schedule (useful life) on HP-branded laptops lower than other brands because they're crap.
