I ended up flying in the wrong direction (to Montreal) last time I flew to europe. Thank you Air Canada :)

Number of hops doesn't mean much as with some transit providers we don't even see them (MPLS network). Tinet with one hop between central Europe (in this case Vienna) and "every" bigger US city is good example:

    from EU to E-Solutions, Tampa

    8 18 ms 15 ms 15 ms xe-0-3-0.vie20.ip4.tinet.net [77.67.75.201]
    9 143 ms 159 ms 142 ms xe-10-2-0.mia10.ip4.tinet.net [141.136.109.117]

    from EU to Internap, Dallas

    8 15 ms 22 ms 14 ms xe-0-3-0.vie20.ip4.tinet.net [77.67.75.201]
    9 151 ms 154 ms 152 ms xe-1-0-0.dal40.ip4.tinet.net [89.149.180.25]

That should be fixed in a while, T-2 is on VIX with open peering policy :)

We also get Telia over Fiberring, which should fix Tcom/DTAG.

  • Hi guys!
in case you haven't seen this yet, ... we have some pictures from the move on facebook

    Cheers,
    Gerhard

  • Awesome. Thanks for the interesting photos. Clearly cable management wasn't a priority. :P. Also, nice to see the team. I see everyone is wondering which one is William, lol. Why does William get all the attention. Shame. But I was thinking William would look differently, because of the stories that he is a Jewish Asian who speaks German. Lol.

Edis has a really small team for all the servers they own around the world. Just goes to show that a hardworking team is >> a big lazy team. More hands aren't necessarily better these days.

    Because he wants it.

  • YEA; GIVE ME ALL ZE ATTENTION!

Anyway, VIX port is online and should start to get traffic in a few hours/days depending on the peers/routeservers.

  • VIX is now online and routing traffic (routeservers only; no private peerings for now)
