I've tested DO for some days (I'm on a 1024 XenPV with 4 Cores running flawless) using the 1024 Plan with one Core and notice a strange behavior regarding page display, my pages just hang for a while and then display like I was using some buffer.

I think this is because I was using only one core.
This is a small board using nginx+php-fpm+mariadb for 300 online users.

The network is fast (NL) but from time to time I received some alerts from Scale Extreme and Cloudkick agents about loosing connectivity

Maybe in 6 months they get better ....

  • I'm thinking about buying a vps with prometeus and wait a few months until all those "free" servers are gone.

Free trials only last for 3 hours.

    Huh.

  • I tried the 12h trial and honestly I am disappointed, isn't the unixbench score low?
Look at those network speeds as well

  • Is it because the downtime?

    1) Open up http://digitalocean.com

And why they are bad for you?
Is that serverbear score hurt your web/application?

@mtoledoce said: expire in 24hrs as usual trial time. after 1 day they send me a mail with : "if you want i can credit to you with $1.25" hmm?

Trial time is 3 hours for you to try the VPS but the promo code "SSDTWEET20" & "SSDPower20" gives you a $20 credit to your account after you pay $5 with paypal and to my knowledge this promo code will be on going without expiration, that was what I meant.. Digitalocean is not giving away free VPS's and the promo code is not for a free droplet which is what your misunderstanding. Considering the lowest priced droplet you can create cost $5/m this credit will give you 4 months of free use.

Did you actually try to do anything with the server other than looking at the benchmark? Anyways, DO limits the server during free trial to prevent abuse. So, whatever you got, you won't get once you add a credit card or paypal.

That's normal score for E5 processor because it have lower clock speed per core.

    From my observation:

    4 x E3 3.4GHz core = +-4k unixbench score
    4 x E5 2.0GHz core = +-2k unixbench score

I've moved one of my site to DO about a week ago, got about 12 hours downtime due to their storage problem (they said datacenter technician replace wrong raid ssd or something... and they couldn't fix it).

Go to bed and when I wake up, they add $100 SLA credit :D

Well, this is really good, I've added my debit card (without getting charge even a cent), add $20 server bear promotional code, and now got $100 from their SLA credit, so I won't worry for the next 24 months :D

Still recommend everyone to DO :D

@giang why some got 50 and you got 100, did you have two droplets, or two accounts?
Did you get 100 as one chunk, or two credits of 50?

    I have no idea, and I only got 1 droplet :D I got $100 as one :D

  • I should have been using my DO =)

  • Did the downtime happen in NY region?

  • @chinmoy said: Did the downtime happen in NY region?

Yep, my droplet was in NY :D

  • Why not in NL :/

  • lol... Begging for Downtime? :)

  • @Amitz said: lol... Begging for Downtime? :)

I think he meant why don't you have your droplet in NL.

  • @Ishaq said: I think he meant why don't you have your droplet in NL.

Nah, pretty sure he meant what he said..cause it'd mean free credit. Haha

  • He meant why the downtime not in NL.

  • Damn!!! Could've had a droplet in NY :(

    Are they metering now?!

    edit:
They have a gayass way of allocating resources, $5/mo is best value for money.
