I have to agree there @DrServer - my 152 Mbps home line normally gets 40Mbps from ColoCrossing, and is down to around 4Mbps

The specific destinations where the speeds are slow is because Softlayer, Colo@, etc, utilize Hibernia just as we do, and there seems to be some slowness in their network right now. I am discussing this with their senior management currently and feel pretty confident that the issue will get resolved this week.

There seems to be some dishonesty. I'm not going through Hibernia.

When I said we reduced traffic to Hibernia we moved about half the traffic going over Hibernia to Telia. That included vultr NJ. The current route is:

    What's the return path?

  • Telia is just horrible lol. My VZ route to my ovh server sucksssss. But switch to my charter link and speeds are fine[ovh has 10g to their London network from USA west coast]... My VZ is fiber and charter copper cable.... So telia just sucks in general lol.

  • @jbiloh relocate to Chicago? Your network there kicks ass!

current results in buffalo are very strange, one min I can hit 60MB/s and the next 1MB/s

No signs of improvement here in the land of @Ernie

Speeds to my OVH are a pain at under 1M/s but spiking up to 11M/s and back for a second...

Same here, exactly same results. Cogent works great, all others are pretty bad

This is getting pretty silly now @DrServer - I really like the price and performance of my server but the network is pathetic

Can you please PM me the server ip?

I believe the slowness is on Softlayer's side on their hibernia circuits. You can see the other speeds are fine.

10MB/s and 4MB/s are horrible on a Gbit port, and not "fine".

I'm currently getting 2MB/s from Leaseweb and 2.5MB/s from Nforce (both with spikes up to 4MB/s, then back to 2-2.5) - Pretty bad.

  • For a reason I can't understand, the download speeds are incoherent.

Example: I can start a download from my Incero server at 102Mb/s but it finish at 2Mb/s

I have less problems with the upload speeds.

    http://mirror.nforce.com/pub/speedtests/1000mb.bin @ 40GE - Around 2-4MB/s

    http://mirror.nl.leaseweb.net/speedtest/1000mb.bin @ 4GE - Around 2-3MB/s

    http://mirror.de.leaseweb.net/speedtest/1000mb.bin @ 10GE - Around 1-2MB/s

    All of them very unstable.

  • You guys are using bad download test links, no wonder it's slow!

Try http://lg.buf.colocrossing.com/1000MB.test and you can see nothing is wrong :)

wget 127.0.0.1/1GBtest.bin is even better :)
