@Infinity What a clear scam, almost no body expected it to be a scam from how clear it would be, but turned to be they have the guts to do it.

As some have said, it was expected at least a 1-2 month of service, which is some has gotten, not a big deal, after all, but..

  • Well, i finally moved all my stuff out today on my Germany VPS to a new provider.

Now to use the UptimeVPS machine while i can for...other purposes. ;)

  • A long time ago, I told you uptimevps could go bankrupt, and of course you know now that mistake.

  • InfinityInfinity Member, Host Rep

I could tell from the start, not many people were with me that UptimeVPS would do a runner or go. I never acutally used my VPSs with UptimeVPS.

  • There was a thread on WHT about UptimeVPS roughly at the time they started, pointing out their fake whois info, and all this other stuff, and people were like, SO, GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE! -_-

  • I seem to recall when I first logged into the VPS's ordered from UptimeVPS, there was a BT residential IP address listed at the last login. Unfortunately I have re-installed the OS on these VPS's so have no such logs, but if anyone could find this, it may be worth googling it.

    That is from the
OS template, it seems like quite a few VPSs I've used (ovz) have that same IP.

  • Yep i see that in a lot of fresh VPS containers, even when im the first to login.

  • UptimeVPS: ns224427.ovh.net

  • who believe this?

Not realy, because this UptimeVPS.co was hosted on Kimsufi 2G server (which is in OVH DC) http://www.kimsufi.co.uk/ (OMG £13.99/month dedicated) :) This is most known: Take the Money and Run scene :)

mmm,, ok.. at least more expensive than my 512MB Linode VPS.. :P

  • de10 is still up, but I can't ssh to my box. It seems that there are some abusers on that node.

That actually looks interesting, i just did a little search myself:
As per http://trackingdownuptimevps.org/index.php/Whois_information_for_the_uptimevps.co_domain Ash McKiernan's email is [email protected]
A google search for that email brings up http://www.app-coming.jp/en/apps/developer/2667/205243
The whois for ashmckiernan.com has the same data has uptimevps.co

However AppCookr.co.uk seems far more interesting

    WHOIS Results for appcookr.co.uk

WHOIS lookup made at 15:05:02 19-Nov-2011

The owner of the email address [email protected] who is the owner of UptimeVPS seems to be working for (if not the owner of) appcookr.co.uk whos whois data i've posted above.

Edit: Another interesting thing i've noticed:

Their Android app uses the package name "com.appcookr.app_uk_182".

A whois on appcookr.com actually shows finally a name, Park KyungHoon from South Korea.

Both websites use NS from camdensoft.com which seems to be a parent company of Appcookr.

Camdensoft was founded in 2010 and is located in both United Kingdom and South Korea. Camdensoft's reputation is continually growing as a result of their web-based application, AppCookr.

    Also, from their contact page:

    Camdensoft, Ltd.

    London, UK Office
3 Clifton Garden Golders Green London UK

    Email: [email protected]
  • Camdensoft Ltd does not exist.

  • I know nothing about that. but i'm sure you must looking on http://www.kemsirve.es/ not ovh.es :P
