Please note, I don't expect the performance on Delimiters backup slot server to match that of my other server. One is a more shared environment, and the other is much more controlled by me.

That is awful performance, I would open a support ticket on that. Something VERY wrong with that result.

It should look more like this:

    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5630 @ 2.13GHz
    Number of cores : 4
    CPU frequency : 1600.000 MHz
Total amount of ram : 23967 MB

I am currently talking to Delimiter about my VPS performance as per a request by @MarkTurner, after they have determined it is fixed I will update my post.

Both Dacentec & Delimiter have been great to me. Delimiter slaughters every other budget provider for network though. As Nyr said, different offers, nothing to hate over - but MarkTurner is right about he network being the difference.

Download test (that doesn't really mean much, but you can see the difference):

    Delimiter ATL:

    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5450 @ 3.00GHz
    > Number of cores : 8
    > CPU frequency : 2999.967 MHz
    > Total amount of ram : 32170 MB
    > Total amount of swap : 19311 MB
    > System uptime : 17 days, 15:53,
    > Download speed from CacheFly: 107MB/s
    > Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 66.2MB/s
    > Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 45.4MB/s
    > Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 13.5MB/s
    > Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 10.5MB/s
    > Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 94.7MB/s
    > Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 8.16MB/s
    > Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 22.0MB/s
    > Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 20.3MB/s
    > Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 6.64MB/s
    > I/O speed : 97.8 MB/s

err, wasn't formatted properly. but dacentec results I get, aren't much different from that. except Atlanta is much slower, and Washington is much faster.

a 'real' test would run some continuous transfer for at least 15 minutes
