How about upload speeds to many locations?

  • I left Buffalo first of the year, never looked back. A Black Friday special got me and got me for a whole month of service so I split after Buffalo would randomly crap out 2-5am

Definitely, they oversell their network a lot.

jbiloh was taking network graphs on here in the past regarding this reoccurring issue

Yeah, I hope they'll improve more. We've renewed the server but we expect them to take care of their own network.

They most likely have overloaded switches. Could be a reason why some have better connection speeds while others are complete crap or the NIC's are going bad.

Yes, precisely what I'm thinking... We'll see how it goes.

Thank you very much! We have renewed the server but did let them know that we'd only renew it if the network improves, and that happened. Until now the network has been much better and we're looking forward to stick with CC.

As for the IO speed, try ioping -RD ./

    You'll see close to 10k IOPS! :-)

Dedicated 1Gbit? Then the crime is much worse...

I've got the idea to do a service network restart and oh surprise...

    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 V2 @ 3.50GHz
    Number of cores : 8
    CPU frequency : 3501.000 MHz
Total amount of ram : 32080 MB
Total amount of swap : 8191 MB
    System uptime : 170 days, 18:26,
    Download speed from CacheFly: 78.2MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 57.4MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 39.7MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 1.13MB/s
Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 9.93MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 1.07MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 953KB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 1.23MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 24.2MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 64.0MB/s
    I/O speed : 104 MB/s

Offshore speeds is still crap but it's much better all around...

Don't know why this resolved the low speeds tho

Indeed, at least we're now getting better speeds!

  • Slightly offtopic but does anyone know at what speed the CC rate limiting kicks in?

Looks like I have to limit network port when doing large uploads :(

It seems CC doesn't let my reseller hand me a direct account so I can help them fixing their own network.

    I'm considering to leave.

Sometimes. Right now, not so better speeds. I was denied from having a direct account to CC, to investigate this further. Is there anything you can do?
