HostDime Banter

So I recently had purchased HD VPS to host all my corporate & personal sites from HostDime USA ($50/mo VPS 1)

They run there Linux Managed VPS's on i7-860s, my VPS was considerably slow for 1 WP site, 2 static html sites & WHMCS and basic pages took 2-3s to load as even the HD tech confirmed so I had opened a ticket asking why they were using PC Grade processors and they replied with:
"Thank you for contacting us and I apologize for the troubles you've faced thus far. If we can perhaps migrate you to a newer VPS node, would you reconsider cancelling? If so, please let us know and we can get this process started for you."

I then asked what would be the spec with the new VPS node, they replied:
"2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5520 @ 2.27GHz w/HT" which I think is much more acceptable

I would have thought such company would use good hardware for there VPS nodes, at least a E3's from the start even if it is a old node.

PS. Anyone trying to load StormVZ and it's slow, you know who to blame.

They are trying to help you. just migrate. Big company likes to save some money too;-)

I don't really see anything wrong with suchdesktop hardware.

  • @Infinity Personally, I think that for general use it's fine such as a shared cPanel server and such but for VPS nodes and heavy usage I disagree.

  • Could be an older node too ;-) it is not that bad.. :-P find macros.f

  • Ask them for the output of sar from the node. Will tell you everything.

That is their support staff. its not a symbol. its just sates that they are 24/7. Maybe you should show some respect to them. OH GOD. you look hot bro

  • @Randy :) you can manage your publicity and all are symbols, even cows ( hostigation idea ).

  • Well. they are not ugly tho:-P

  • Ok, Orlando average :)

Its very rare to get any desktop based hardware with them, the most likely case is they had an influx of orders on which they ran out of stock on there typical CPUs.

In regards to the server being slow I think its time to look at your site:

Specifically your javascript and remote images:

@acarrascope In regards to the comments regarding that staff I find them comments on there support team extremely inappropriate! One of the people you have mentioned in the pictures is Dan Silber, who is extremely friendly and an all round nice guy.

@LV_Matt I'll check that out but still It's not like they are in a rush for money and could have just told them they were out of stock instead of putting in place cheap hw

Note I only criticised there hardware, Clayton & Sulema have been more then helpful so far

    Clayton F?

  • Ummm, Manny and the boys over there will bend over backwards to help you. Trust me I talk to Manny about once every 2 or 3 months. He is an amazing person. He will talk to anybody and is the ceo of a fortune 500 company cut the boys some slack. Take the ability to move to another node and be happy with it. Your not going to find much better. You might be pickier than the rest of the people on the node.

  • Clayton will sort you out, he used to be on the Dedi's team from what I remember. I have him on MSN I think.

  • They seem to be all really good guys over there. All the ones I dealth with through the change over from nixism to hostdime they were great.

  • @LV_Matt He still is, sig says Dedi Specialist. I presume he's the one in charge of the VPS nodes as well so got put forwarded to him

  • Macros and clayton handles dedicated servers

Also "cute girl" but nobody tell. Put the eye on the big picture, im not insult or try to offend to anyone.

  • 59$? specs?

  • Nah, $59 for this old Atom model is too much. I can give you a better atom with 4GB of RAM for $50.

  • Yeah the cpu.is way cheaper

  • RDS100 is your server managed though?

  • with a /29?

  • Lol. 59$ is not managed with hostDime. They charge more. For hostdime i mean

  • @24khost managed by you, not by us :) And yes, /29 included. However we are not in the United States so that is probably going to be a show stopper for you.

  • ooh that must been out of the bargin bin?

  • No I don't need anything like that. I just know hostdime really well, before we moved to our cloud setup we had a couple of dedicated servers through them.
