    Bar is far more common, but some people do say pub in the states.

  • AsadAsad Member

    @Francisco said: We do, I thought it was the same in the states?

    I'm British :P

    Didn't think Americans knew what a pub was, I thought you guys just used the word "bar".

    On average, a pub focus more on beer and wine than liquors and cocktails. The food selections are better and the atmosphere more casual.
    An average bar will serve more mixed drinks and have a fuller stock of hard liquors. Most don't serve meals, just snacks.

    @miTgiB Yeah, I know. It's just that pubs are thought of more as a British culture type thing. I thought an American equivalent to a pub was a tavern.

    Pub, tavern, bar... They are all interchangeable now pretty much. And don't forget, we were all British not that long ago.

    We've been with CyberWurx in ATL for a long time, and they've been great for us. Alternatively, you might talk me into giving you a deal on space in our cabinets... :)

    CyberWurx gave us a pretty decent deal.

    Nikki needs ~100mbit unmetered so I doubt you want to beat what cyberwurx offered (100mbit/sec, 1U, $99/m, free announcement of IP space)

    But lemme know :)

    At peaks, yea.

    A full user TF2 server with replays will do 5 - 6Mbit/sec alone. She figures she'll run anywhere from 6 - 8 servers on there.

    How do we get this secret stock?

  • @concerto49 said: How do we get this secret stock?

    Since it is Aldryic dolling it out, I imagine his whiskey of choice would show real interest.

    BZ's rolling everclear tonight and wants to play some portal 2 CO-OP since things are quiet. There's a good chance this is going to end really really badly.

    On another note, we got buyvm+ pretty well all setup. I got another KVM box to prep but it isn't really needed for the initial launch I don't think.

    Nothing like gasoline and portal, am I right? Lol

    No joke, he was drunk last time we played and it went along the lines of:

    me - "OK, we need to portal this beam bridge over to that far spot on the other side of the map"
    him - "oki."
    so we do so and are at the last spot
    me - "OK, put your portal right here so we can get up"
    him - "NOPE. drops us into a pool of acid"

    A bottle of vodka should do the trick.

    And talking about vodka, yesterday got a really nice bottle of Russian Standard..which I intend to drink the following week.

    That's a great price. I would take that deal and run with it.

    If you are looking for anything more than 1 server in the future, let me know though.

    Mass emails have been going out for the past bit to not only the mailing list but to customer emails in my.frantech.ca

    Here's a paste of what's going out via WHMCS:

    Hello *****,

    A time has been set for our public OpenVZ stock release in New York, as well as an unorthodox
    "early birds" release for customers in good standing with us.

    If you're looking to quickly test out Buffalo's network:

    Test IPv4 - 199.195.255.1
    Test IPv6 - 2605:6400:1:fed5::1
    Test Files - http://speedtest.ny.buyvm.net

    * please note there is no DDOS filtering available in NY at this time minus our auto nullroute *

    New York also has some very sexy new OpenVZ nodes, consisting of:

    Dual Hexa E5 2630L
    64GB DDR3
    8 SATA 3 1.5TB drives (Adaptec 6805)
    128GB SSD read cache

    New York KVM nodes are still based around:

    E3 1230
    32GB RAM
    4 x SATA 3 1.5TB drives (Adaptec 6405E)

    =======[ How do I order? ]====================================

    Just check on http://buyvm.net or http://doesbuyvmhavestock.com :)

    They will both have order links for New York. We'll be limiting registration & orders from new clients during

    the early bird period.

    =======[ Already a client? ]===================================

    If you're a client of ours already, your early bird ordering window starts on Monday, August 27th at 1PM GMT -7

    During this window we'll be loading up both OpenVZ and KVM stock. OpenVZ will have quite a bit of inventory
    available, with load outs looking like the following:

    - 520 x 128MB's
    - 280 x 256MB's
    - 280 x 512MB's
    - 40 x 1GB's/2GB's

    KVM has a more limited amount of stock, consisting of:

    - 40 x 128MB's
    - 40 x 256MB's
    - 20 x 512MB's
    - 10 x 1GB's
    - 6  x 2GB's

    There is no limit on the amount of plans you may order during this pre-order period.

    Your 'early bird' period will last until Wednesday morning.

    Please be aware that our transfer policies *still* apply, so hoarding a bunch to turn a quick buck won't
    work in your favor :)

    =======[ New to BuyVM? ]====================================

    If you're a hopeful new patron, your stock release will be on Wednesday, August 29th at 4AM GMT -7

    During this load out, stock will follow the usual stock release schedule documented here:

    http://wiki.buyvm.net/index.php/stock

    There is no calling dibs on this stock.

    =======[ Looking for San Jose? ]================================

    With the load out of New York, we'll be filling out all available San Jose stock as well. OpenVZ will have a good

    handful of stock available. KVM will have a very limited amount of stock available as well.

    ======================================================

  • Got the email... I swear that the Devil is a pony leading me to temptation !

  • I thought everyone, who signed up in that newsletter gets an email, not only existing customers.
    But it isn't that bad, because Francisco kindly wrote it down here.

  • The email arrived just now.
