  • Imho a 'trail VPS' does not count as a 'free VPS' in my opinion. A 'free vps' as a result of posting (worthless?) topics/posts on some forum neither, but that's just my opinion.

    'Trail-hopping' is pathetic if you ask me. LEBs are so damn cheap these days. Why don't you spare a dollar and support these small/startup companies :) ?

    A bit harsh, gimme the money then I'll do it :D As much as I'd love to get my cash on PayPal etc. I can't due to my damn age. Not my fault :(

    Was it just me that had a 14 minute downtime on my KiloServe KVM?

  • One $5 VPS, mainly for running a macro and a screenshot timer, so my boss thinks I'm busy working.

    :-)

    I use... 6 as gameservers,
    2 for webhosting
    1 or 2 are for vpn
    Another one runs the backup scripts
    Another one is my main database.

    Another 6 are just... idling (mostly the ultracheap ones for fun :D experiments and for monitoring if I will keep them or not )

    I lost the count... too much yearly ones lol

  • @prometeus said: Many of you are evading the question: what are u using those precious vps for?

    I use them all to support my ramen noodle habit, and one day maybe upgrading to a hot dog habit.

  • I just got rid of a few (and am stilling looking for a buyer for a BuyVM 128 MB), I now have:
    1 x BuyVM 256 MB OpenVZ (www1) - Runs My Websites
    1 x KiloServe 365 MB KVM (www2) - Runs Client Websites
    1 x Hostigation 64 MB OpenVZ Backup (backup) - Backups Stuff Up
    1 x Hostigation 128 MB KVM (user) - Runs Monitoring, OpenVPN, SSH Tunnels & ZNC

    Uh, thanks god is banned.

  • @prometeus said: Many of you are evading the question: what are u using those precious vps for?

    webhost, DNS, backup, autodownload new manga chapters then convert to pdf then send to my dropbox and email me, eyeOS, VPN, and breaking the vps and reinstalling the OS(I used to do that once a week, but not as much anymore)

  • @dnom said: autodownload new manga chapters then convert to pdf then send to my dropbox and email me

    COOOOOL

  • How do you guys get free VPSes? Also I don't think I'd want to put important stuff on a free VPS because if it got deleted uhh can't really whine about it.

  • I just have one freebie. IPV6 only at germany.. loooong time ago

    http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/valueserver-free-256mb-openvz-vps-with-ipv6-only-connectivity/

    $ uptime
     10:44:30 up 185 days,  8:17,  1 user,  load average: 0.04, 0.02, 0.00
    $ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz
    cpu MHz         : 238.402
    $ dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=10k conv=fdatasync; rm test
    10240+0 records in
    10240+0 records out
    671088640 bytes (671 MB) copied, 18.4598 s, 36.4 MB/s

    It had a reboot u_u

    And since almost nobody uses his free VPS (I guess), probably this is my most stable box ever :P

    1 x 256mb @ UrPad (child porn)

    EDIT: That's a bad joke btw. I named off as many providers as I could. No one take it personal plz.

    1 x Hostigation 128mb (script)

    Others are out of the LEB criteria.
