    It really depends on what you will be using it for.
    From what I see, people use it for all kinds of stuff, not how we thought, judging from our business usage, from live production servers to backup boxes...
    Either they do not trust new(ish) providers, or the price is too low and the regular VPS user jumps in the cloud boat and uses it exactly like a regular VPS.
    On the other hand, the new Xen zone was much better, we learned a lot of lessons and are now in the process of reorganizing the KVM zone too.
    Also, the Xen scheduler is so much better than the KVM one for the cpu.
    A synthetic benchmark will fit so-so most usage cases, but it is only as good as the real application relates to it.
    There are also no 2 services alike, at times not even from the same provider, we have Biz, cheap and budget services, they will perform from high to low in this order, all things equal. So, unless you have a specific scenario in mind, you are stuck with the synthetic benchmarks.
