My life with GVH since I started using the server a couple of months back; reboots all over the show for a month; then nearly 30 days of constant uptime with decent speeds, and they don't give a monkeys that I'm torrenting 24x7.

Your mileage seems to vary since they have suspendended/terminated VPSes in the past for torrenting.

I would also like to note that by Jon posting me the information of the VPS I am using he has effectively broken his own privacy policy. Through out this thread I have stated that this was a server not mine, and owned by a third party.

    Privacy policy:

    Here is my Second statement:

    Third:

A few other responses but none had anything to do with the ownership of the VM.

At which point I received a PM on this forum stating:

Thus listing private information about the server to a third party.

I'd say I have to agree with that one, I was actually about to bring that up.

I think they (Jon?) put the effort in offering better products over the time, witch is good.

  • @Mun @jnguyen I'm on that same node, I believe. There was definitely some recent downtime. See here: http://cl.ly/image/2A2a3f3r1k3e

I have less complaints about this box than Seattle though.. All of the traffic in Seattle was being tunneled through Buffalo - which made the network ridiculously slow. After a couple complaints I got moved and LA has been better, for sure.

Conclusion: fine as a banter box for cheap traffic and pissing about on, goes without saying I wouldn't trust them with anything by my lowest priority personal projects.

same experience for me pretty much.

the only benchmark that matters: http://i.imgur.com/xIs89OO.jpg

although I don't torrent 24x7 so I don't think I affect other users that much.

  • @jnguyen: It seems that there are always a lot of comments in your thread :D. Anyway, since there's a trial plan, I've decided to give them a try.

  • TUN/TAP enabled?

  • @jnguyen any dedicated server specials?

    What?

SpeedStep can't limit your CPU to 2719.936 MHz, so it means GVH gave you 4 cores' power in 5 cores.

    (2719.936mhz * 5 cores = 3400mhz * 4 cores)

tl;dr they gave you less cpu.

    Haha, I mean which :P

Ahh most likely, but it really isn't my server anyways, it is a friends, and alas he just lets me monitor its uptime.

I've been waiting an answer to ticket 961063 for hours, would be glad if you take a look @jnguyen.

EDIT: Anyone who got a ploop container; if you're getting GB/s dd test results, give "dd bs=1M count=1k if=/dev/urandom of=test conv=fdatasync" a try as suggested in here: http://lists.openvz.org/pipermail/users/2014-May/005592.html

  • The plan says: 128MB Guaranteed & vSwap RAM

Why doesn't my VPS have vSwap RAM?

  • @jnguyen said:

    • 4048MB Guaranteed & vSwap RAM

    I wanna ask two questions:

    1. can you confirm the disk is really RAID-10 PURE SSD?

    2. 4048MB Guaranteed RAM? well, then, does it have any vSwap RAM? if have, then how many?

    Thank you.
