  • @serverian - you can throttle IO, Yomura does it on their VPS servers. But its a custom kernel build with a tonne of patches. We've been doing it since v2.6.18 but our deployments doesn't use a straight filesystem.

But I doubt these guys have done that.

There was some talk OVH may be doing the same.

Same, still waiting for my NL. Already raise ticket to ask about the vps ETA but no reply so far..

Ask about switch location too but they reply with no.

  • Their communication is not the best, what could I say?

  • I asked yesterday and they said that due to some technical difficulties they hadn't been able to provision the NL VPS's yet, but that it should be done soon.

  • How funny would it be if their IP Justification got denied.

Test of the new NL "V-Enterprise" VPS:

I'll post an other test in a week, to see how it performs with more customers.

Edit: not sure, why I've got 8 TB of RAM, but I'll take it ;)

vSwap is enabled on the VM and not the node or vice versa.

Well, it supposed to be a joke, but thanks for explaining it.

So how much do transfers (recreate, no data restored) cost?

  • @Bruce said:
one thing I DO NOT like on the GVH signup form is that you can specify your root password. that is asking for trouble. they should create a password automatically, then email it to you. surely that would be more secure that choosing you own.

Why does it matter? I always put "password" on there and then change it myself on the VPS after

  • Btw, where is their offer in LET?

why? because some people DON'T change the password, and wonder why they get hacked

  • edited April 2014

Purchase a vps from provider using whmcs/hostbill using our generated password, reinstall it, change the password from solusvm, login to ssh and change the password again :)

Which DC do they use in NL?

  • BruceBruce Member

    IPv6 included ?

  • @xDutchy said:
Yeah people rather have a lot of (oversold) theoretical resources, I mean who needs actual resources?

Everyone at LET just idles their VPS' anyway :')

If I can't set my I/O test cron job to 10 minutes and monitor it like there's no tomorrow on a VPS I don't use for anything else of interest then I don't feel alive. You can't take that away from me, @xDutchy.

hosts don't like it when the IP gets blacklisted though, or DOS

anyone get extra IPs in Amsterdam? seems they only have an ARIN /26 at the moment.

would be nice to know what DC the node is in.

    I'm guessing it's in Interxion AMS5 (Tupolevlaan 101, 1119 PA Schiphol Rijk)

    Interesting...

  • We're not migrating VPSes from US locations to NL if your VPS was purchased for anything less than $15/year. This is because of the prices that we are charged for RIPE IPs.

  • FlisoFliso Member

And how many $$ would I have to sprinkle around with to make it profitable/worth your while?

Are you not currently using ARIN IP's in NL?

We're using PhoenixNap's RIPE allocation in Amsterdam.

It's still pretty interesting as I got the vps from an offer that included an EU location that you could not select at the actual checkout proces. Personally I just took the next closest location to patiently wait a chance to get moved. Being told now that the offer I took is not profitable for an EU location makes me think why you even marketed it in the offer at all.
