GreenCloud SJC: Paid $2 to replace a Google-blocked IP, got another blocked IP, support told me to "

@gangan why don't you use google gemini from your own home connection, but rather access it from Greencloud SJC network? (which google may consider as VPN)

For some time now, Google was blocking access to it from VPNs and certain datacenter networks. To my knowledge, there's nothing Greencloud can do about it and I can assure you they didn't intentionally block Google on their servers.

This is called activism. Accessing Gemini is not a standard task and TOS says it.

    @gangan said: is unacceptable.

Sure, you are welcome to go to a different provider with acceptable practices.

@gangan said: I am still waiting

    Good luck with fair resolution.

I think you’re misunderstanding what is happening, lots of AI companies are blocking all data center IPv4 blocks.

Use this on your ip address and see if it actually has a bad reputation or if it’s just listed as a data center ip. There is literally nothing you or any hosting provider can do about that unfortunately.

    https://www.apivoid.com/tools/ip-reputation-check/

Why would the hosting company owe you a refund? If they sold you a CLEAN ip address which they likely did then they fulfilled their obligation. Literally no one on the planet can give you a guaranteed ip address to get around restrictions set by other providers. A clean ip address just means it doesn’t have a bad reputation where it will be blocked as malicious like for email.

HELLO GOOGLE NOT WORKING PLEASE HELP GIVE ME NEW IP

Real situation: I can't abuse Gemini because they banned DC IP range like they have in TOS and this is clearly provider fault. Not mine for trying to abuse things I shouldn't. Not Google for banning that IP range/DC. It's clearly a provider fault!1111!!

Let me guess... you from China?

    To JabJab and others:

Yes, I am from China, and I use Alipay. Is there a problem with that? Does being from a certain country or using a specific payment method mean we should just accept being handed dead, unusable IPs and lose our money to a "no refund" shield?

If a provider charges extra money for an "IP replacement" and hands over an identically blocked IP from the same tainted subnet, that's a poor business practice anywhere in the world—regardless of whether the customer is from China, the US, or anywhere else.

I've said my piece. I'm waiting for management to review the ticket, not for internet trolls to mock users over where they are from.

    To oloke:

Because I live in China, where Google and its AI services are blocked by the Great Firewall.

Buying a US-based VPS and using a proxy is the ONLY way for users in my region to access Google, Gemini, and other global services. That is why having a working, unblocked IP is so crucial.

If a provider sells US servers while their IP subnets are heavily tainted and completely blocked by Google out of the box—and then charges an extra $2 just to hand over another dead IP from the exact same banned subnet—it renders the VPS completely useless for its intended purpose.

I am not "whining." I am exposing the truth about a tainted IP pool and a service that takes extra money for "IP replacements" while dumping dead subnets on customers.

If a provider refuses to offer working IPs or basic accountability, public exposure is the only thing customers have left. Consumers have every right to warn others before they make the same mistake.

Have you considered opening a similar ticket with the Great Firewall demanding a refund because you can't access Google Gemini from it?

To those saying "access isn't guaranteed":

Sure, maybe specific third-party access isn't explicitly guaranteed in the fine print. But let's be real—even the cheapest budget VPS providers in this market don't hand out tainted subnets where core services like Gemini and Google are entirely blocked out of the box.

And more importantly, charging a $2 "IP replacement fee" only to blindly hand over another dead IP from the exact same banned subnet, while telling customers to go talk to Google, is just a scammy practice. That's the real issue here.

To be clear: my goal in posting this isn't to start a flame war, but to expose a real, unaddressed issue: GreenCloud's San Jose IP pool is heavily tainted, blocking basic services like Gemini right out of the box.

Charging a $2 "IP replacement fee" only to hand over an identically blocked IP from the same banned subnet—and then hiding behind the "non-refundable" TOS while telling customers to contact Google—is unacceptable.

If a provider sells a plan where the network is fundamentally unusable for standard tasks and refuses to offer a working subnet or a refund, customers have a right to speak up. I am still waiting for management to offer a fair resolution to this ticket.

"expose" lol. expose what, that sites sometime block datacenter ranges? everybody on this forum already knows that.

As per TOS, section 3. You paid for an ip change, you got an ip change. It does not say "gemini unblock service, different subnet, verified clean." you invented that fucking product in your head and now youre mad it doesnt exist. did you even at the VERY LEAST bother to ask beforehand?

and the same section, "Accessibility to certain websites (e.g., Netflix, Etsy) is not guaranteed."

That covers google. that covers gemini. IT WAS THERE BEFORE YOU PAID, not fine print they added after buddy

Your server works. it pings, it does everything a vps does. google blocking one site is not "fundamentally unusable", its google. greencloud cannot unblock you, google decides that, support literally told you that and you called it absurd.

Promo plan, $22 a year, non-refundable per section 2 which you also agreed to. management is not going to "resolve" the tos you clicked accept on.

You can all defend the provider from a host's perspective all you want, and hide behind your TOS. But that won't stop me from exposing the truth: GreenCloud's San Jose IPs are blocked from Google straight out of the box.

can you pay again another $2, then maybe tell them explicitly that you want another ip in diff subnet?
