GreenCloud SJC: Paid $2 to replace a Google-blocked IP, got another blocked IP, support told me to "
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the 13th Birthday Sale "2222 SJC VF" (San Jose) plan from GreenCloud for $22/year. I specifically need a San Jose server for my work.
Right after deployment, I found that the initial IP was completely blocked by Google (cannot access google.com at all). Trying to solve this properly, I paid an extra $2 IP replacement fee to get a working IP. However, the system automatically assigned me another IP from the exact same tainted subnet, which is also completely blocked by Google.
When I opened a ticket explaining that I paid $2 only to receive another broken IP, support replied:
"Hello, As explained, IP blocking by Google is their policy and is beyond our control. You can proactively contact Google support to request to remove the block."
When I asked for a refund since the server cannot even perform basic connections to Google, they just copied and pasted the TOS saying promotional plans are non-refundable.
I understand the 7-day money-back guarantee doesn't apply to promo plans, and I am not trying to abuse it. However:
1. Charging $2 for an IP replacement and delivering another dead IP from the exact same blocked subnet is unacceptable.
2. Telling a customer to "contact Google support" to clean up a datacenter's tainted IP pool is absurd.
@NDTN Could you please look into Ticket #[484913]?
I do NOT want other locations. I bought this plan specifically for San Jose. I am asking for a fair resolution:
1. Manually assign me a verified, clean San Jose IP (from a different subnet) that can access Google, and refund the wasted $2 IP change fee; OR
2. Cancel the service and issue a full refund of $24 ($22 plan + $2 IP fee) back to my original payment method (Alipay).
Thanks for your time and help.

Customer service response
Hello,
Unfortunately, we do not support refunds for your service
Thanks!

What kind of service you're trying to access?
i suggest a ticketing platform at lowendtalk so any helpless child can subscribe to it to open ticket to ping providers directly. maybe add API so ticket here can associate to the original ticket since everyone will post their #ticketNo
Update: Senior Technician "Arthur" just replied to my ticket with their "final decision":
Comparing basic connectivity to Google (essential for basic search, package mirrors, APIs, and daily work) with streaming Netflix is ridiculous.
Even worse, charging customers $2 for an IP replacement that randomly pulls another broken IP from the exact same tainted subnet—and refusing to even refund that $2 fee or manually assign a working subnet—turns the IP replacement feature into a complete lottery scam.
@NDTN Is this really how GreenCloud treats customers during your 13th Birthday Sale? Keeping the $2 fee after delivering an identically broken IP from the same subnet?
The most ordinary Google search
So, you got captcha or it refused to connect?
The IP address has been blocked by Google and is being refused access, while other platforms are accessing it normally.
The requested URL /m was not found on this server. That's all we know.
Tried turning it off and on?
Please contact Google support to resolve the issue.
I tried several times, trying at different times over many days. Everything else works normally, but I can't access any Google services. Customer service also said that Google has blocked me and told me to contact Google myself.
I am confusion. 404 = block, what.
tbh paying for IP change getting same subnet if entire subnet is flagged is peak funny
I've never seen google completely block an IP.
Gemini isn't available in this country
Gemini is gradually expanding to more countries. Learn more about its availability. (5)
Right, because when a hosting provider leases out a heavily abused IP subnet and charges me an extra $2 just to randomly assign another broken IP from the exact same subnet, it's totally the end-user's job to beg Google to clean up the datacenter's ASN reputation. Great logic!

Server access to all other platforms is normal, but accessing Google is different.
Just to clarify: I can access Gemini perfectly fine using any other free nodes or regular connections. The ONLY IP that fails and blocks Gemini is this exact San Jose VPS assigned by GreenCloud.
Yet their support and senior technician Arthur claim that "third-party blocking is beyond our control" and refuse to provide a working subnet or refund even the $2 IP replacement fee. This is unacceptable for a brand new server.
So the IP isn't actually "broken" per se. You just can't access the specific service you want to (Gemini, clearly), so you're pretending it's entirely non-functional.
I also bought an IP for $2, but in my case, I was getting hit with DDoS attacks and they had discovered my real IP.
If you want a clean IP, I recommend hiring a company that specializes in proxies. A VPS is a shared resource—someone else was using it before you.
I understand they also provide IPv6 addresses; try using one of those.
To "monsoon73":
Call it whatever you like—when a major global service like Google/Gemini is entirely blocked on a brand new VPS, and the provider charges an extra $2 specifically for an IP replacement only to hand over an identically blocked IP from the same tainted subnet, that service is broken for its intended purpose.
And more importantly, pocketing a $2 IP replacement fee without delivering a clean IP, while telling customers to "go contact Google," is unacceptable business practice. That's what this thread is actually about.
Did you try ipv6?
Can you show me where GreenCloud guaranteed access to Gemini before you purchased?
It is unfortunate but since the service was not sold with guaranteed access to Gemini...
If it is unacceptable then you will need to find a different provider, with guaranteed access to Gemini.
Just contact google support. You can even ask to update google map after re-landscaping your front yard.
To JohnFilch123:
Nobody asked for a 100% absolute guarantee. But charging a $2 "IP replacement fee" specifically to hand over an identically broken IP from the exact same tainted subnet—while telling customers to go talk to Google—is peak anti-consumer practice.
Anyway, I am waiting for management/NDTN to respond. To the rest of you defending this kind of business practice: enjoy your evening.
i dont see how you being unable to access gemini is greenclouds problem especially when they never guaranteed access to gemini.
To those saying "access isn't guaranteed":
Sure, maybe specific third-party access isn't explicitly guaranteed in the fine print. But let's be real—even the cheapest budget VPS providers in this market don't hand out tainted subnets where core services like Gemini and Google are entirely blocked out of the box.
And more importantly, charging a $2 "IP replacement fee" only to blindly hand over another dead IP from the exact same banned subnet, while telling customers to go talk to Google, is just a scammy practice. That's the real issue here.
To be clear: my goal in posting this isn't to start a flame war, but to expose a real, unaddressed issue: GreenCloud's San Jose IP pool is heavily tainted, blocking basic services like Gemini right out of the box.
Charging a $2 "IP replacement fee" only to hand over an identically blocked IP from the same banned subnet—and then hiding behind the "non-refundable" TOS while telling customers to contact Google—is unacceptable.
If a provider sells a plan where the network is fundamentally unusable for standard tasks and refuses to offer a working subnet or a refund, customers have a right to speak up. I am still waiting for management to offer a fair resolution to this ticket.
