They are likely reacting in the provider-only forum.

We warned him at the time. When someone pointed that he logged in a customer vps he replied "I reserve the right to do so".

I did not participate in the public thread because it is not my place. But now he is banned so. Yeah. That was his reply.

Honestly? Fuck trustpilot they deserve it. They can claim otherwise all they want, but if you pay them enough they’ll make sure your reviews look good. It’s a nice middle finger to them to have good looking reviews without paying them a cent.

No way anyone will pay it to use review hosting platform and not require it to moderate reviews the way merchant wishes it to (pay to win)

I'm bound by an NDA so can't go into great detail but I know of one provider who did pay this and could get negative reviews removed. That's all that i'll say on the matter and will not confirm nor deny any guesses.

come on our NDA didn't cover that.

Personal stance is to flat out refuse to participate there as an entity. I'd rather come BS on the green forums, get a real word of mouth recommendation, etc than give them an ounce of our actual energy. Especially because it's quite obviously gamed. I think we're mostly all negative there from some lady who blamed us for getting her card stolen by a MJJ (which was of course fixed as soon as detected--thanks Stripe Radar for missing tons of obvious fraud until we banned complete card issuer BINs) and a few pissed off MJJs over the yearly thing who were targets of toilet flushing and didn't get the upgrade.

Not much to say. I'm a softie, I think he's got to be stressed out beyond belief. From the provider's POV this is someone who likely has large (relatively speaking) server/colo commits that he's on the hook for after his future sales pipeline just dried up faster than @bdspice's 500G stash. It's not a comfortable position, even if warranted and/or brought on by your own actions or responses. I might be a troll, but I don't dance on graves.

There's no defending any of it and the LET detectives did exactly as they should, I don't want to convey any sort of defense of his previous actions. Just sympathetic towards the aftermath as a human. I would have been happy to chat/help (if I can) @CharityHost_org. Maybe some advice towards how to calm tensions and learn from the experience, make genuine changes. One of the biggest things still relevant to me (and us, here as a team) today is that we constantly learn from everyone here. Yes, even @beanman109.

If he so much as gave a shit about his future revenue pipeline then he would have taken the feedback from most of us and the (at least) 10+ providers to pivot away and move on. See my comment from awhile ago: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4396137/#Comment_4396137

Clearly his ego was bigger than his bank account and that's all that mattered to him, until it was popped like a balloon with his ban.

Idk. Maybe that's an excessively harsh take but that's how I see it. You can't save people who can't or don't want to be saved. If someone wants to burn their house down, it's their house, let them do it.

Wholly agreed. There was plenty of excellent advice given and (imo) a few notable chances for redemption/forgiveness by community. @bugfree just asked re: providers specifically and was giving that perspective (from me) and why you're not likely to hear a whole lot from that side of the fence overall. At minimum, it's a minefield and some level of professional courtesy.

I've decided he didn't want to be in this business anyway and he was basically pleading with the community to help him exit with dramatic flair.

@crunchbits is a true gentleman. We can all learn a lot from you.

I agree. No need to dance on a grave. All he has to do is own up to his mistakes, apologize, stop snooping, update AUP to respect freedom of speech and who knows, we may welcome him back one day. As @FAT32 said before, we can be forgiving. We just value our privacy.

CH has rebranded before, started out as Spectrohost. It’s not his first rodeo.

He has a lot of work to do before he’ll be anywhere near ready to “welcome back.”

who created this site host.charity?? quite cool.
and yes, charityhost.org was rebranded from spectrohost. IF you go to bgp.he.net and search their IP ranges, the reverse PTR records point to spectrohost, spectroweb, etc which was their former name.
