I went to bed after finishing it yesterday, and I am replying now. This is the XP system, just a simplified version of the system made by deepin that I found randomly.
@host_c someone's out here to see you
do you have such plan? or
Event Horizon NX-01 - Storage 1 TBis good enough for rdp?I would personally not do RDP server on a 1 vCore Xeon Scale Gen 1.
I recommend you to get the Ryzen + 2 GB ram ( 2GB ram base + 2 Addon so it has 4 GB ram in total )
That cpu will behave nicely as it has a high compute power.
If you wish to do RDP on one of the 2 storage offers,, I would go for the Oblivion Ark-218 - Storage 2 TB, it already has 2 vCores and 3 GB ram by default, altho I would add an additional 1 GB RAM to that.
Performance wise, AMD is the clear winner for windows RDP, but this all depends on the number of active sessions you wish to host, the Oblivion Ark-218 - Storage 2 TB can also handle this very well.
Hello

OK, I will take a look at it shortly, just let me get my head out of the coffee mug
@QuenFea
OK I will take that as a win - Congratulations

Are addons only for new servers or can they be used for current ones?
Almost all current services can be upgraded also, there are some exceptions plus availability in resources.
However, upgrades are charged at the List price not the promotional one.

Yes, a website is coming, I know, WHMCS is lame
PS: open a ticket, and state what you wish to upgrade, we will take it from there.
i will be doing a single session only
that too rarely.... probably 20 hours a week.
and ok with oblivion package too
then the 2 TB one will do it nicely, stock as it is.
the AMD will also do it on stock 2GB ram also
Wow, that's awesome! I choose “+1 vCore and +1GB RAM and 50 GB NVME” as my prize. Thank you!
Will do
So how did you do it?
I had a lot of data on my Storage Service, so I chose to install Windows XP using Proxmox VE. It took some time to get PVE set up, and then I moved on to installing Windows XP—but the process wasn’t as easy as I expected.
First, I messed up the hard drive type when creating the VM, which meant the installer couldn’t detect the hard drive at all. I tried multiple times, but nothing worked! Then it suddenly hit me—maybe IDE or SATA would work? And yes, it finally recognized the drive! From there, everything went smoothly until it asked for a registration key. I had to spend some extra time finding a valid key, but eventually, I got it installed successfully.
But there was still no network. I knew it needed VirtIO drivers, so I tested multiple versions until I finally found one that worked with Windows XP. After setting up a NAT network, everything on Storage Service + PVE worked perfectly.
Next, I started exploring Windows XP a bit and quickly realized that Internet Explorer was completely useless—it was way too outdated, and no pages would load. So I had to set up an FTP on Storage Service to transfer and install Chrome on XP. But even then, most websites kept throwing errors about the system time being too early. That’s when I realized—oh, the root certificates were outdated too! Luckily, I found an updated version on GitHub and installed them. Finally, everything worked—no more SSL or time-related errors!
At this point, I checked the time and realized that hours had passed. But honestly, it was such a fun experience that I completely lost track of time. Most importantly, the performance of Host-C’s Storage Service was outstanding! Especially after the recent CPU and hardware upgrades, all of this became possible. Thanks to @host_c again!
You can just mount the latest virtio drivers iso and have XP scan the disk for the corresponding drivers. Installed just fine for me.
I had tried before, but I just couldn't get the network to work. It might have been because the Windows ISO version I downloaded was too outdated. In the end, I went with version 0.1.126, and it worked perfectly!
OMFG, outdated, XP is never outdated

is netboot even possible?
im trying with my own proxmox locally
we have the image in the repository.
some said it works, some said it did not.
Completed, rdp information has been dm
im confused... how can I install XP on virtio scsi disks? or is there some way to change disk driver type / install in nested VM counts? @host_c
nested also counts, @QuenFea was first on this, so he won.
I will think of another thing for round 2
well its actually easy if nested counts
cant wait for round 2
I was trying to install it directly. On ipv6 only server.
was not a lot of fun :P
I wrote the image to the disk and just got a bluescreen
the backup comes in handy though
instantly back to idling
Damn, my idea was to nest it, but didn't think it was allowed. Nesting makes it way easier. Could even install like w7 and nest it from there if needed.
