This is tempting.
In a good or bad way?????

Good for you, bad for my financial report.
Oh boy, we could discuss on my for hours also
.
@host_c what CPU is the 2tb storage ?
Xeon(R) Gold 6148 CPU @ 2.40GHz ( Xeon Scale gen 1 )
GB6 Score ±700-800.
These will be swapped out to Scale Gen 2 ( 62XX ) within a few weeks.
Those will have ±1000 GB6 score.
I suggest $7/year deal to make it win-win.
Now, who is up for a contest??????
I will do the AMD Ryzen with 2vCore and 4 GB ram and 100 GB nvme @ 3.2 USD / Month, 7 USD / Quarter
or
+1 TB storage on any host-c storage service
or
+1 vCore and +1GB RAM and 50 GB NVME on any host-c storage service
to anyone ( well anyone having a host-c service ) that manages to install windows XP in a VPS from us.
All I need is that we can verify the posted screenshot by ourselves. ( best would be a DM after posting here with the IP address of the VPS, net needs to be functional with the public IP address, regardless it is IPV4 or IPV6 or both )
Time-Frame - till Friday, as it is only Monday, and most have work to do / go to / not go to
Windows XP? I want to try.
yapp Windows XP, we wanted to do 98, but the current setup do not let you do that, so XP it is.
+1 vCore and +1GB RAM and 50 GB NVME on any host-c storage service
interesting ....
I swear, if someone does this within 12 hours, i will just shut up for the next 2 weeks
nahhh, I will not
There will be round 2 if we get past this one.
@host_c , i will try --- need to do some work first.
I'm getting very familiar with netboot
, so far no success though
no easy, hence the time period till Friday, it can be done, I can confirm that.
I can provide you with VNC authentication
Do you still do the big storage server (5T) for around 40-50 per year?
FWIW I had a chance to benchmark those Ryzen beasts early on and almost had an orgasm. Both, CPU & mem and NVMe are insanely fast (can lookup and tell you the numbers if you're interested).
Will I buy one though? Nope. Reason: I simply don't need an unearthly fast storage VPS. The @host-c Xeon 5 TB box I have already is bloody fast enough, it's in fact faster than any other storage box I ever benchmarked and/or had plus dirt cheap too.
That said, if I had a not too large DB driven production site I'd definitely go for that Ryzen box because (a) it's insanely fast, (b) it's very, very reliable (if I'm not mistaken the NVMe is Raid'ed too) , (c) their support is great, (d) it's configurable, and (e) the price is really OK. plus it's handy to have highly reliable storage space right with the production site.
TL;DR a LET top-host marking his territory, confirming his top-host tag being well deserved, and switching into the next gear.
If unlike me you have a need and/or project for such a beast - and high reliability plus quality! - go and get one!
Btw, I consider host-c products and service production grade and wouldn't hesitate to have critical stuff hosted with them.
MORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I saw this only after writing my first comment.
if there wasn't the Windows [whatever] condition * silently crying and sobbing
why does it say deepin bottom right corner? Is that actual XP or a linux distro wearing an XP coat?
Anyone who completes this successfully, or just the first person to complete it?
It's not real Windows XP, it's Deepin XP (bootleg Windows XP edition)
Yeah that's what I figured, deepin aren't really known for their authenticity
anyone first to complete it successful, full eth/net working on either ipv4 or ipv6.
I will disregard VGA drivers.

@NullSir
you get an A for effort, I wish to see what you did there, it is interesting. I will DM you tomorrow, you will get some
Yeah, I know, but any "UNIX" regardless of age would have been much much easier to install.
Thank you for your words, it is really valuable to us, especially as this was out first project on AMD
, also some of you know how much I was against Desktop CPU's, so until it did not have ECC U memory, we did not even power it up in the rack.
So this goes on. Windows XP install ( I will say official one/not clone or other )
NET drivers for virto card will be your last problem. ( search for older virto-tools )
Shameless thread bumping * blush
Done! The remote RDP info has been DM.
Good luck with the sales!
