  • I'd like to know when the deal will end, as I'm still waiting for WebDAV to arrive before making a decision.

the lifetimes will continue, but the price will go up some until the next time we do a sale. The yearly BF deals i assume will end on Jan 1.

So can I get WebDAV before Jan 1?😂

I have no idea when SM will have it :) Its been 3 weeks since their last update so I suspect the next ones gonna be big. They have a very active devops team and usually pop out 2 - 4 releases per month ranging from bug fixes to major features.

  • Is there any mailing list functionality? Like for department mailing lists?

Yes. We don't have it enabled by default yet, but you can ticket and we can enable it on a per domain basis.

I think we can probably globally enable it w/o too much issue.

    Feedback?

    I think I found a bug.

When you go to the customer area, click on the users and then on "Login As" it will redirect you to the workspace.org web interface, but when you're already logged into a different email account it will show the emails from the one already logged in but the upper right corner will show the account you selected for the "Login As" option. When you refresh the page it will go back to the account which was already logged in.

I also think it might be a good idea to have users fill in the main postmaster/admin password every time before they can use the "Login As" function for some extra security.

    I also have a question.

Are the emails encrypted on the servers? So when for example, someone (either a data breach, zero day, or a rogue employee) got access into one of the mail servers, can our emails be accessed that way?

And, I know that you, as an employee, can login as a client/customer on whmcs, so you also have the possibility to login to their emails? If so, see above, would be good to have some extra security in the form of a password. I hope I'm wrong about this one though.

It's a tough one. The point of SSO is to be easy to work with. If people were prompted to provide a password every time then they would just login directly.

I guess one option would be to prompt them one time and then cache that domain as authorized to SSO into.

Thinking more on this, the password prompt doesn't help at all since the user can just reset the postmaster account.

I think the best option is probably to just enforce 2FA for cranemail users. Can't manage the product w/o a 2FA setup. At least then we'd know for certain it's the correct owner.

  • @Francisco said: @truemagic said: any chance we are getting a subdomain catch-all like FastMail or Zoho?

    Explain this some?

FastMail and Zoho has this feature which allows

[email protected] gets forwarded to [email protected]
[email protected] gets forwarded to [email protected]
    ..and so on

In short, I just have to add domain to NameCrane (with all the MX and TXT records and a wildcard subdomain TXT for SPF) so that I can forward all the emails a.k.a catch-all to any of my subdomains* (need not to be created in DNS) to a designated email i.e. [email protected]

I try my best to explain so hopefully it's now clearer

We're ~90 days out for the remote backups. We're doing snapshots for now. I wanted them to just be 'cover our asses', but i'm going to see if there's an easy way to allow pulling them. Biggest issue is just how big the archives could get (up to 10TB).

    Francisco

I am confused. Are you saying you are keeping up to 90 days backup or in 90 days you anticipate a solution. While I trust you, I have been burnt quite a few times on LET when the provider just disappeared. Alpharocks, NexusBytes, VirMach to just name a few. Need to have a backup (at least weekly) if the service disappears. I also lost all data to a provider who was using ZFS and could not rebuild his filesystem a few years back.

No. What I'm saying is that we're still working on implementing backups as well as a way for users to export them easily.

The current thought is that we build a small portal/interface that runs on each mailserver (for instance, https://us1.workspace.org/backups/ or something) which you'd log into with the primary admin (maybe even the domain admin if you allow that) and then pull down the archives.

I think this is the better option than gating it behind cranemail's portal in billing since now you can allow your own customers to login and fetch on their own.

If possible within in the namecrane panel

    • Whitelisting & blacklisting domains & email addresses on a global & per domain basis
    • Email logs (Email from - to - and what happened to it) - searchable & filterable

and others you can think of

    thanks

You should be doing this via Spamexperts. We could probably do something where we sync your blacklist/whitelist to all of your domains at once.

Cool if we can automate it, if I could create a cron job to pull it.
I'm also looking into running imapsync to keep a backup of each account email locally.

  • @Francisco Hi, will all the lifetime services be deployed on the us1 node? Looking into purchase another 750G plan, could be better if EU/SG are available options.

  • I've been trying to make some order for a long while now butMy order is do marked as fraud.

Basically using a new card so can't figure exactly why @Francisco

EU will be next year. I don’t see us doing Singapore for this offering.

Thanks for the answer. Can I place an order for now to lock the price and have it deployed in eu when it's available.

The reseller plans/etc that are listed as 1TB are 1024GB. The stacked lifetimes are 1000GB as Fran pointed out, since they're multiple 250G plans not 256
