Thanks, found the settings now.
I like your password
🤣
The pending status should be good now. I had disabled the cron while I was merging the new code.

It’s the placeholder text, enjoy.

@Francisco Still pending now 😂
Pm me your domain and I’ll check the log but the domain verification should be fine.

For the cloud storage, is there a way to preview PDFs on the browser like NextCloud before downloading it? My clients have previous commented on how much they like that so I'm hoping this storage has that.
Shared links should do this already. We applied some header tweaks which should make it load the browsers inline PDF reader. We can test it again, but during the beta it went well.
Francisco
Thank you for your reply! I haven't bought it yet since I wasn't sure if it does what I want yet so that's why I'm asking.
By any chance is there a test/demo account where we can test/play around with it?
Yes i just haven't decided how I want to do it.
We could make 'demo' accounts inside of WHMCS but it'd spam up Karen's orders, and then I'm gonna get the chankla.
I'll think on it more. I might just make a form where it creates a short lived, stripped down, account.
Francisco
Can I setup two Primary Domains? Since it includes 15 Primary Domains in the plan.
mail.mydomain.com for E-Mail
cloud.mydomain.com for Cloud Storage
No, sorry.
crane.mydomain.com covers both bases
Francisco
I would like to send some WordPress backups in your mail attached cloud storage via SFTP.
I know that WebDAV is still a work in progress. Is there any facility of SFTP file transfer in current form? Or it will be provided later on ?
@Francisco
Rclone/WEBDAV are the only plans at the moment. Maybe we can do some sort of SFTP bridge, but that's way into the future.
Francisco
All problem had solved! Thanks @Francisco so much!
Come on, everyone knows you're Big Bwana, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. Stop abusing the poor Karen's name already!
We just rolled out the 'domain users' part of cranemail portal. This allows you to:
We'll expand this page to support mass user importing/creating via a CSV.
Feedback is welcome
Francisco
Dear users,
Please tell me the feedback about this product since the release. I am waiting for your feedback!
*tagging @hyperblast cause I know he wants to know this too
bought lifetime and i have let it age like wine.. time will tell
Having it used for a couple of days now I am pretty satisfied, my wife hasn't reported any problems to me. Migration was done really quick from OVH to NameCrane, I think under an hour for my biggest inbox (about 15000 emails).
The workspace.org interface is also pretty full of features. The one I really like, and wasn't possible at OVH, is the option to configure a catch-all alias and have it send to multiple (I just use one) email addresses. At OVH I had to login to the customer panel, manually configure one alias at a time and have it forward to my main mail. Which is annoying to do every time I signup on a website and want to use an alias.
100GB of space and the amount of domains I can add for $10/year, or even $20 for every 3 years (I have opened a ticket yesterday asking to upgrade it to $20/3 years, but no reply yet) is a lot for the price, which I will not fully use anyway though.
SpamExperts is a nice anti spam feature, but today I have received a phishing mail (in my own language) which it somehow did not mark as spam. I did select that email and clicked on Train as spam though. (Tagging @Francisco for this, might be good to know).
All in all, great product for now. I do not use the eM client as I use this with the mail app on my iPhone and just the web interface for now. So I can not comment on that.
positive feedback increases the pressure on the namecrane europe product. ideally, rising pressure means falling prices
I think that ticket is in my queue, will hit you back on that soon. We've been prioritizing support requests over the billing changes and upgrades to lifetimes/etc.
Stuff does get through, noticed particularly some languages more than others. I also got some spam/phishing stuff slipping through en español.
You can tune the filter settings in SE though and increase the sensitivity. If you look at the logs and add the column to view "Extra Class" it should show you a score each message received - can also look at headers of a message I think.
Then you can go under Incoming - Protection Settings, Filter Settings - and increase the sensitivity (lower quarantine threshold) to wherever it seems to fit.
The training does work really well overall though and does get better with more reports. I've had dozens of tickets thanking us for including SE because certain inboxes were unusable without it.
From my experience with my personal inbox - if you put in a little training effort early on, it's pretty smooth sailing after the first 2-3 weeks.
No worries, take your time. I'm sure there are more higher priority important tickets from other customers awaiting a reply.
I'll be doing that for every spam/phishing mail I get, I have too much spare time anyway.
The feedback we've been receiving has been overwhelmingly positive. Lots of stuff to continue working/improving on, but I'm at single digit negative interactions with CraneMail customers - well under a 1% complaint rate so far. And we've been able to solve most of the complaints - typically oversensitivity on inbound/outbound.
Main stuff we're working on at the moment is:
New Features/Improving CraneMail Portal
This is where @Francisco's time has been sunk into the last month, but particularly in the last 2 weeks. He's built a ton of new toggles and tools for managing accounts, bulk add and SSO to addresses being the most requested and latest he just rolled.
I had a personal request to him to make this easier for aliases (forwarders) as well - so you can dump in a list of aliases and have those instantly created vs adding 1 by 1 in SmarterMail. 1 click catch-all is another one I want to see in that release.
The users on discord have really been driving dev and helping us build out a ton of features. Very much recommend joining if you want some involvement in improving things: https://discord.gg/tRbJjyVvmj
Documentation/Onboarding
Biggest area we're lacking in right now. Fran's made a bunch of UI improvements to the portal and adding new stuff there, but still getting too many tickets on how to do basic things - so this is where I've been focusing my time the last day or so.
I'll have a better knowledgebase up in the next couple days with docs on how to do some of the basic and more advanced things in CraneMail - along with screenshots/etc as necessary.
And then will make a bunch of changes to the ordering process, so making sure you get handed a "Quick Setup Guide" of sorts that touches on the 5-10 biggest requests that will cover the vast majority of users ordering.
Continuing to Improve Deliverability
We've been pretty happy with deliverability even prior to the launch, but there's still a ton of room to improve here. Had some good feedback and have clapped a few cheeks where we've seen lower quality mail going out - contact form junk, some outreach sales/marketing junk, etc.
It's actually noticeably improved though with the increase in legit personal/business emails going out - which was a big driver for us doing this. We want top tier deliverability but needed some volume that wasn't just signup/contact form/comment notification transactional stuff from our hosting clients.
On deliverability if Google Workspace & Office365 score a 100, MXroute is a 98-99, we're probably in/around the 90-92 range at the moment and improving.
Any API or similar so that I can create forward/aliases programmatically? I like to use unique email addresses for each service and I've already created a GUI for it, so would like to send API calls to you to create them.
Yep. SmarterMail has an API - here's the full docs: https://mail.smartertools.com/Documentation/api#/topics/overview
User Aliases section here is what you'd want: https://mail.smartertools.com/Documentation/api#/reference/SmarterMail.Web.Api.DomainSettingsController
It also has a disposable addresses feature built in, which may be useful for certain sites/temp signup stuff: https://mail.smartertools.com/Documentation/api#/reference/SmarterMail.Web.Api.MailController/CreateDisposableAddress/post
any chance we are getting a subdomain catch-all like FastMail or Zoho?
I'm not sure "remember me" is working quite right. Sometimes it might work for a day but then I'll have to login again.
Explain this some?
A few others have reported getting randomly logged out. Smartermail claims it's client related (usually timezone of all things).
I'll do some more checks to see if it's something we're not passing through NGINX.
