Strange, DO has way more jitter over telia than my home connection which goes straight over HE :o

Anyway, I will do the voxility test later on if still needed.

Monday OK i guess, I just realize it yesterday when I access my file and using the proxy.

    Already open a ticket.

Malaysia ISP are TMnet, Maxis, Celcom and a few small player. TM gave the best speed and latency using fibre. Maxis and Celcom provide cellular HSPA+ and LTE

BTW i'm on Maxis coz they can provide speed up to 10mbps hspa+ in my area minus the latency which I can tolerate. Syreamyx ADSL aren't flexible and slow. Fibre access as UNIFI and Maxis fibre are out of reach - they just rolled out in urban area and no nationwide access yet.

I've done no changes but it's very much possible Rob did :)

I've been busy trying to finish the last of the cleanup and SSD/storage nodes before my flight in the morning.

Thanks for the heads up either way. I'll bring it up with Rob in the morning to see if it was anything he did.

I'll take down the buyvm.net/100mb.test file or just setup a redirect to speedtest.

    Thank you everyone,

suddenly download from my vps at node21 seem normal as before, but from http://speedtest.buyvm.net/100mb.test slower, hovering 100kBps

    You should check both IP's

It's possible you're taking cogent for 1 and not the other.

Cogent will be going away for the most part later this month hopefully :)

  • testing using my friend laptop. ISP: Tmnet ADSL 1mbps

mysteriously his laptop can't trace using winmtr. I;m using ping plotter instead

download speed unaffected. steady as 1mbps

    OK now theres something interesting

when downloading .test file its ok, no throttle

but when I download mkv or zip suddenly they're throttled to 40kBps

so I rename some of my file to .test and download. also throttled

is this because .test file compressed better when downloaded?

BTW I'm using lighttpd as my webserver

    *edit

anybody got some file I can test direct download from your vps thats not a test or bin file?

    *edit

just test a bunch of mkv and mp4 and zip from 4shared, no throttle

  • Just few test results from my 2 Mbps office connection in India from Reliance. The connection is not idle and I have seen the peeks reaching the maximum speed during the download.

any chance they actually tag a number of vps ip and throttle it down?

other download are not affected, but I did see that eset server are slow

    maybe they're rerouting somewhere

testing using my friend laptop. ISP: Tmnet ADSL 1mbps

    http://pastebin.com/9EpKFyr6

mysteriously his laptop can't trace using winmtr. I;m using ping plotter instead

download speed unaffected. steady as 1mbps

That's not his laptop that can't trace route.

It's TMNET blocked route tracing, which i think is bullshit

  • TW Telecom are useless but within USA. Probably best to tag the communities as such. It just dies.

I've done a little tweaking of the Fiberhub network to push Telecom Malaysia traffic down a different provider. Hopefully this will help, but my suspicion is that TM's trans-Pacific transport circuits are just slammed, and any provider handing off traffic to them on the west coast will see similar performance.

Hopefully we'll be peering in Equinix LA soon as well as at One Wilshire (where we have peering now), and we'll try to peer directly with a few more of the asian networks such as TM.
