You're unlikely to find other $100/year dedicated servers of similar performance at another provider. It was extremely popular and sold out almost immediately
Good news that the crisis is over, seriously if what you said is ture the data is worth tens of thousands of dollars you need to looking into setting up a proper backup strategy.
OP got lucky, my server went down in relation to the over temp issues today at the Buffalo DC & just heard back from Colocrossing that the server is completely dead.

I mean, colocrossing used this as an excuse to delete all the 99-dollar servers. He used the 99-dollar servers to open the market, but now he wants to delete all the servers without notice. I didn't expect this to happen to independent servers at all. I didn't make a backup. I can't get the data now.
what were you doing to get suspended? I have a few of the $99 servers and have no issues, not suspended.
I didn't do anything. The high temperature caused the server to suspend, and then told me that I couldn't reply, so I could only refund my credit line.
oh understood, mine are in Los Angeles which doesn't have any issues. I think Buffalo had some high temperatures that may have killed some racks of hardware, according to their support.
I feel sorry for you. Hope you can recover your data.

I would love to get a hold of one in Buffalo or LA if you wanna let one go. Thnx.
If I don't see daily articles in my RSS feed, then i'm coming for you.
never ever, sorry. these will be passed down to my grandchildren
Ofcourse even I wouldn't. But if you change your mind one day I am here.
Enjoy 😉
I got the email and The server has started.
My server still hasn't come back online, and I haven't received any response to my ticket for over 12 hours. I don't know what to do next.
Actually there are three kinds of people.
Third is the people who test their backups.
I have 3 dedicated servers with @ColoCrossing, and not a single one has had any issues till today. ColoCrossing is a very good company, very stable, and yes, hardware failure can happen anytime and they will replace it. The first rule is backup backup backup.
Hi Guys,
On Tuesday the Buffalo datacenter had a couple AC units (we have 21 at the Buffalo facility) experience a fault for a few hours. This caused one small area of the datacenter to get warm. As a result a small amount of very old servers are having technical problems.
The $99 annual sale from November 2023 was for old server inventory (10+ years old). When these servers break we are decommissioning them rather than trying to fix them by buying other used and old motherboards on ebay to replace.
To the couple folks impacted by the broken servers we are offering credits equal to what was paid in full ($99) back in November 2023 (meaning you are getting the last 7 months of hosting fully for free) and offering a better replacement product, at the same cost, on our bare metal cloud.
Seems like a pretty fair outcome to me.
and those people have nothing better to do with their life
(sorry)

Can you please DM us your ticket ID?
no chinese currency
also bet this was opened to gain their attention after they did not wait for more than a hour
Or those people actually value their data
So tell me... how often do you validate your backups?
My 'mission critical' data once every 6 months.
