This is one the few 2GB vps packages that can run Windows RDP smoothly
I recommend Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025. The 2025 version has windows 11 style look and feel, but far more stable and secure.
Testing Windows XP today just for fun and learning exercise.
It may be a good idea to disable the administrator account to keep Windows RDP more secured
@dev_vps , did you ever setup the firewall to allow certain ips and disable all on all services? is it possible to just accept and drop everything else?
my last attempt was with ipsec but it disabled outgoing and didn't have time to fix.
thanks for any help.
ehab
make it 4GB Ram?
This is a good post with screenshots

@dev_vps not just the RDP but all ports.
is this still possible?
With administrator account disabled, it becomes extremely difficult to connect to RDP for "non-allowed" users
one simple method to keep them away.
and just use custom admin account for example "d14se78" and keep audit on for unsuccessful logins.

@dev_vps have you ever used mic in RDP sessions? As in I want my PC's mic to be accessible by the remote PC.
I've tried multiple guides, which are basically variations of https://serverspace.io/support/help/how-to-use-microphone-in-rdp-session/ but it just doesn't work.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/operating-system-security/network-security/windows-firewall/configure-logging?tabs=intune
I will try these steps and let you know the result

What other tips you can share for windows hardening? I use a bare metal for personal rdp and would love to start making it more secure.
Thnx in advance
PS. If you want you can spawn a new thread.. guess there is some interest in this area.
Thanks for the suggestion for starting a thread on this topic
I will have a create a separate thread.
I can't visit https://deploy.hostaris.com/ to check my VPSes. Is hostaris down?
No
They have closed
Hostaris sure catered to a special demographic.
Haha definitely, telling.
Proof
They advised customers to dispute payments for refunds
Cleared all channels from their discord
IPv4 blocks became inaccessible
Companies house address now points to HMRC
Not definitive proof just indications
Must be a reason around 30 people so far took up my refugee offers
Thanks.
got my chargeback refunded in an hour.
Hey there,
I've got 2 annually paid servers from hostaris frankfurt node, which are unreachable for 7 days already.
I can't find any place to get support regarding this.
Who can help me?
If the servers are offline, open a dispute for your payment ASAP.
If you mean dispute via PayPal, I didn't use that.
