Obligatory yabs. This was run when my VPS was deployed with 20GB RAM instead of 24GB. Support team quickly rectified that.

Yeah. It's much better than any "old and ready to be recycled into the trash bin CPU" dedicated servers. Of course it's still a VPS rather than a full dedicated machine, but you get the idea. For €9 a month, I think this is one of the craziest great value VPS you can get.

True, but not quite the same product.
A dedicated server means guaranteed resources, and in my experience, I very rarely find vps to be as stable as dedicated servers (regardless of the provider).

But I agree that the price-performance ratio is much better with virtual servers. And this one is incredible.

Check Windows services running and any not needed service marked as manual (in stead of auto)

The cpu utilization should come down to 2-3% range.

Use browser “brave” and use ad blocker such as ublock origin. Change brave settings to uncheck things like “send daily ping data” for better privacy

Do you have a script you run to configure the windows box after provision it new? I've got one for ubuntu I run to do updates and setup the firewall and stuff, I'd be interested to see what you do for configuration on a windows machine if had any interest in sharing.

I don't have a script, but this is an excellent suggestion.

Added to my to-do list, powershell script for disabling services and other common initial tasks.

    Thank you.

When I tell that VPS is more powerful (computing power) than old outdated servers with desktop motherboard and cpu, one provider (pu*****) called me a troll.

Here is one example where VPS >>>> old dedicated crap

imho, 9004 is not quite charming when it is fully filled. the performance seems no drastically better than a 7003.

Mostly not a problem - there was a week of "high" steal that after a ticket labze said he limited some people abusing the system - but it stayed around few percentage until (forced) migration to another machine due to DDOS. I didn't care about < 10% steal so didn't ticket, maybe it would be shorter period of time.

    @lukast__ said:

Not 100%, there were some issues here and there - some network related, some machine related it seems. Uptime is acceptable at this point, but not perfect. If you can live with some random downtime here and there for 10+ minutes then go for it. If you need 24/7/365 99.99999% then HostBrrr is still too young company for that :-)

5 servers with them currently - 0% steal right now on all but my storage/backup VPS.

I was affected by the period of high steal mentioned above, but one ticket and I got moved to a quieter node.

Generally our services run with plenty of available resources, so there should not be much steal. Sometimes there are abusive behaviour that we deal with if it affects others for prolonged amount of time.

However, due to the DDOS attacks last month we did migrate many services to fewer machines causing more congestion that we would have liked. This is beginning to ease up as finally enough nodes has been deployed to properly spread out the workload.

Also, uptime has had a rough-ish start due to various issues but this should hopefully be a thing of the past by now, or very soon.

The aim is to provide a minimum of 99.9% uptime, and closer to 99.99 as provided in the past.

It'll take a lot to fill up this beast with 128 Cores, 256 Threads :-)
