thx boss
Out of the 3 things mentioned here, I only know floppy disk (and RJ45 of course but not 3Com RJ45 HUB). You guys really are that old huh?
My final semester project work was in dBase III Plus
My first job in the US was to program in Windows 95 OS using Object Pascal (Borland Delphi).
Haha I know them
I love Delphi and Pascal!
Isn't the new round on sale yet?
@host_c
It's already out of stock again.

It was OOS in 6.9 seconds anyway
The second round hasn't started yet.

@host_c
Very tempted to buy one
ouuu mennn
I will announce it today, but it will go live on 17 or 18 April, so you have time to prepare.
Well depends on "old" definition, but here are some highlits:
We know who 3Com was before it was bought by HP ( and at that time Juniper Networks was 4 years old )
We also Know what 3DFX stand for in the Gaming industry before it was bought by Nvidia ( this is how they got SLI for the video-cards, among other )
We used ATI Videocards as they had better image quality than NVIDIA ( ATI was bought by AMD )
We also know what IDE is long before SATA came along, and used first generation of Flash Drives on SATA and SAS.
We also used HW RAID 0 and 10 to have some decent IO in a windows 98/XP/VISTA OS ( or linux distro )
We used DC/++ to share files @32KB/sec ( DSL/ADSL/CATV Modems ) long before Torrents were a thing.
AVI and ASF video files were a hit, as MKV was not even invented. ( try watching a movie today at 640x480 )
Websites did not use SSL ( as that was in-existent at that time )
We used IRC, forums and yahoo messenger.
We overclocked the shit out of any desktop CPU to play Games or just for the fun of it.
We were there when AMD was the first to do a 64BIT CPU and beat the shit out of intel LGA 775 and the SRV platform 771 ( Athlon 64 on 754 and 939 Platform, hence the 64bit OS images are named "AMD64" )
and the list continues........
So "old" might be to some, that is true, but we "old" did manage to see/test/play with all the things modern technology has to give today.
But enough about the past, let's go forward.
good ,come on
Damn… this is some ancient shit
Btw : I didn’t got a server… hopefully next time.
search for MFM HDD Drives if you want ancient but x86 functional.
I still have an XT sat in the office with an MFM drive in it. Pretty sure it's on DOS 3.3, although it hasn't been powered up in a decade...
Thank you @host_c and greatly appreciated.
My definition about old/young is this — as long one is dreaming about tomorrow and passionate about future plans, one is still young.
PC XT 80286 was the first pc I bought during my student days in 1991, it had 640KB memory and 40 MB (yes MB) IDE hard drive. We also had a subject “8086 assembly programming”.
Not many folks would know that was an operating system called DR DOS that was pretty similar to PC DOS by Microsoft.
wait round 2
I think the drive in that old XT of mine is 10MB; I had to partition it because it just felt too huge to cope with in one block
.
