Looking for a miracle VPS provider

KolusionKolusion Member
edited March 5 in Requests

Hi

Soon I need to rent a VPS.

My minimum requirements are:

  • 1 Ghz CPU
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 5 GB of disk space
  • 20 megabits network speed
  • 1 static/public IPv4 IP address with all ports available
  • Custom ISO support
  • Web console over HTTPS
  • Non-fuckwit owner/staff
  • $5 AUD or equivalent in cost or less per month
  • Quarterly billing
  • Has a working billing facility that accepts Visa payment

Is anyone able to suggest any providers that meet or come near to this requirement?

Thanks :)

  • Which location?

For AUD i would go for
    https://www.binarylane.com.au/

    3,75 AUD for
    1024MB Memory
    20GB NVME Storage
    1000GB Data Transfer
    KVM
    /32 IPv4
    /56 IPv6, routed

Their console is a bit strange, if you are used to whmcs or anything else - but it's functional and i actually like it.
It's prepayment; Just load 3 month worth of money on it -> done :)

But it's probably not for productive stuff - though i've got not one outage i'm aware of.

  • Doesn't seem very miracle to me. I'm not exactly sure how much $5 AUD is in € or $US but if it's about equal there should be quite some options supplying these rather modest specs.

Any location is fine with me.

Thanks for the suggestion about Binary Lane. I tried to use their service once but it was broken (port 25 was blocked) and a staff member acted like a fuckwit when I reported the problem.

If you value knowledge, a helpful/friendly approach to customers and don't mind an EU location i can recommend st-hosting.com. They certainly aren't the cheapest host around (at 60 Euro-cent per AUD your options would be just a small LXC instance somewhat below your budget or a small KVM instance a bit above your budget) but it's still pretty good value in my opinion.

Given you're seemingly located in Australia some US or Asian location would probably be better for you though and i'm not entirely sure if they take CC payments but there's a ton of options and i figure at worst you should be able to use your CC through Paypal without having to sign up there. Custom ISO used to be available in the old control panel but i usually just dd disk images over rescue, so no idea if that's still the case.

  • KolusionKolusion Member

Thanks, but LXC and the price is not good for my needs.

    HostBrr has (no aff)

    • 1 vCore AMD Ryzen 9 7950XD
    • 1 GB DDR5 ECC RAM
    • 15 GB NVMe Gen4 Storage
    • 1 TB Bandwidth @ 1 Gbps
    • IPv4 & IPv6/64 included
    • 1 Backup slot included
    • Hosted in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany

For $2.30 / month (yearly). See product specs (aff)
This is not the cheapest but I excluded RackNerd if you dislike them.

Thanks, but with quarterly billing, the price is $5.20 USD per month. I can't afford that.

For the sake of fun I'll insist it is $6.90 per quarter. That's what my monitor shows. I'm sure but there isso much fucking noise around me now I can't focus.

I had a look at the first service on that page the the acceptable usage policy states they block port 25. This does not meet my requirement.

I won't look at any of the other services on that page as they are probably the same.

Yes, it does look very good.

Is there terms of service and\or acceptable usage policy I can read?

  • KolusionKolusion Member

It mentions VNC support. Are you able to confirm if it also supports a web console over HTTPS?

    Hi,

Looks like our Entry plan should meet your needs: https://manager.enginyring.com/cart/virtual-servers/

I can throw in a 30-day "no-matter-what" refund for you. If you're not satisfied with the VM for any reason.

Unfortunately, can't lower the billing period to quarterly, but I can give you a recurring 20% off with the code: ENTRY20OFF.

  • KolusionKolusion Member

Not having quarterly billing does not meet my needs, but thanks anyway.

    Thanked by 1Andreix
  • AndreixAndreix Member, Host Rep

No worries! Hope you'll find a good fit.

The code will remain available for just 1 use. If anyone wants to benefit from this offer, can be used only once.

The DIY KVM server looks good. Do you have a test account that I can login and verify it meets my requirements?
