Share pictures of your Rack!

aquaaqua Member, Patron Provider

Hello,

Ever since I got into this business, I'm always been curious to see how others set up their racks. I have a bit of OCD, so if I have different server brands, I NEED to group them together. Recently with the jump in sales over the past 2 years, it hasn't been easy with slots opening at very low rates. Recently, I had lots of space open up because I decommissioned about 1/2 of my servers (older hardware) to make space for something new!

Feel free to post your DC, Home, Basement, or garage rack setups

I'll go ahead and start:

  • We did a build out about 10 years ago for a new DC we built. This is some of the start I will see if I can find some more pictures to share.

  • I have just two servers in a shared rack. I am a hobbyist, not a provider. I do IT-support for my job, but I’m not selling servers.

@Calin Seems like you have some cable management to do. Would be hard to untangle these cables without breaking anything.

Hello @DennisdeWit , thanks for the feedback, really the angle is not the best, but I assure you that the cables are noted and there are no problems when it comes to maintenance

    Regards,
    Calin

This reminds me of the old IBM commercials where they'd show a room full of racks and then it would all get replaced with two IBM racks.

    That's 60's nerd porn.

Edit: it's fucked that my reply has an extra pic that doesn't show in his original post. Caching bug?

Edit 2: 2nd pic shows after reloading this page.

I edited after I posted to include that, you turbo quote-replied me and Vanilla must finally be smart enough to notice when that happens.

It's definitely the sexiest looking mainframe IMO. I'd be happy for someone to show the bobs of a sexier mainframe.

The little screen is blurred out. We have little messages with jokes with our techs and other company info.

Honestly I wish so many more providers had live cams on their racks.

Back before Hivelocity filled the rest of their cage, I could be able to see my rack on the live cam. Now they moved it and it's no more 😕

They used to, but it never worked for me sadly

Hivelocity is the only provider I know of that has cameras now

I do not have a hosting business, but I am sharing a picture of my local SeedBox for the fun of it.

It's a Raspberry Pi 3 with a 2TB HDD attached to it, together with a 1GB MicroSD having DietPi installed. It is constantly seeding Linux ISOs over public VPN, and also makes the Linux ISOs available over local network in case I need them.

This Raspberry Pi 3 and HDD are covered in aluminium cases for passive cooling. The heat is then transferred to the metal box with some under thermal pads for better cooling. It is fun, it looks nice and I like how it runs so smooth (~33°C to ~42°C).
