    on their vps line you'll only see qemu virtual cpu as they don't pass it through fully (AES is enabled though)
    it's the main big difference to their rootserver line. obviously ;-)

    I have one of these from their easter egg hunt. they came up throughout the year multiple times.
    if anyone is interested, I'd be willing to transfer it out for as low as 40€ (paid till april), which makes it a cheap entry and it's gonna be possible to cancel monthly after that because initial contract period will be fullfilled by then.

    has been a decent, reliable box for the money I simply switch to something even bigger.

    netcup's G9 ("Generation 9") was already Epyc, and this is G10, so no doubt Epyc as well

    Although the CPU model name isn't passed through, you can still check to see whether it's Intel or AMD by trying each of the following two commands and seeing which one gives a positive (non-empty) result:

    lscpu | grep AuthenticAMD

    lscpu | grep GenuineIntel

    Meh indeed. That being said, it's not that great but if you prefer Nürnberg it's cheaper (if normal RS now ends up being in Wien most of the time if you don't specify otherwise), and 160 GB SSD more could probably be put to good use...

    Not sure if their network is still better in Nürnberg than Wien. Did some of you experiment with that lately? How good is the network in Vienna?

    Edit: Nurnberg yabs. Results as expected...

    These points are on tested systems, so EPYCs are on already virtualized systems, whereas majority of 3900X aren't.
    Just look at multicore. 3900X is allcore, EPYC is scaling like 16-20core CPU, bu its 64core, so majority of tests are on 4-8core VPSes.

    You can easily get 900+ points single core in netcup on this CPU.

    Multicore 3900X vs 16cores of EPYC will be very similar.

    Shame that they included the exact same RS 8000 2 threads + 1TB as the black Friday with the exact same price but now with the option to select the location for additional fee. I wonder if I can complain about it :p

    Speaking of location. Is there really much of a difference between the two? I don't see much of a performance impact.

    I don't know, but I think that there is a bit more latency to western EU / US but not much. As it's connected to their "backbone europe" in both locations, it should share the same peering etc. and perform quite similarly globaly.

    The good point with getting a server in Nurenberg is that if you have other servers there latency between them will be very low, and if you want to had Hetzner products to the mix (storage boxes for example) later down the road, it'll be damn fast...

    I've been with them for years... Doubt they'll refuse me just for a server switch. And the refund option shows server upgrade as reason.
