totally agreed. the "smaller" VPS offers are not worth it as they barely compete with the RS anymore, not even in price
Ordered today a VPS 1000 with "2 extra cores", made some benches.
In reality it is a 4 Core + 4 HT Core.
Here are Sysbench results at 1, 4, 8, 16 threads: 1x 373, 4x 1498, 8x 1754, 16x 1769
You see that it not scale much from 4 to 8 threads, so the 2 extra "Cores" are only HT-Cores with less compute power.
But the disk performance is awesome: 155 MB/s 4K Read with 38K IOPS.
I needed the server in germany, the Black Friday RS with 320 GB was only in Vienna.
When they have Advent RS 1000 and RS 2000 i will order them too and compare them with the VPS.

Eh, another VPS for almost the same price as normal offer, just 2 cores mores (there is 12 already, you won't feel a difference, lmao) and shit ton of SSD storage (+480GB).
If you need that specific one you can save the locations fee here...

IMO it's not too bad, the extra SSD space is interesting. Of course it's not for anyone...
Interesting that no product from the RS line yet and all offers default location Austria or Nuremberg near +1 Euro. So random is not an option. It seems that they want to fill up nodes in Vienna. I'm interested about a possible new RS line equiped with new AMD Epyc CPUs.

From the looks of it from the 2021 advent calendar, I'll take it the RS 8000 will be similar to the black Friday one. Last year they added 2 threads on the RS 8000 G9 (not G9.5). As I only have a few days more left to cancel before the 1 year contract kicks in ^^. Would suck if the Advent Calendar would top the black Friday one on the root server.
In my experience, netcup are careful not to do this (the Advent sales don't top the BF sales), at least not on a very similar product
agreed. usually the offers are the exact same. if at all they are named differently. more likely they come up with something new (RS G10?) beginning of the year or only after easter. till then I'd rather expect their 'offers' to be the same and same again.
It seems that you can choose datacenter on the Advent offers. BF sales were Austria only, at least on the offers I was interested in.
