    Hi @ravi! Hi Guys!

Finally I got around to running @ravi's hext app on Darkstar. It works! I'll leave it up for a short time so you all can see it if you want:

    http://darkstar.metalvps.com:3000/

Thanks to @ravi for the Nextjs and npm lesson! Obviously I have to look at all this some more. What's next (pun intentional) @ravi ? :)

    Best from Sonora! ๐Ÿœ๏ธ

  • Hi @Not_Oles ! Here's something I spun up using bootstrap (completely static for now) https://freevps.271098.xyz

Looks cool! Thank you @iamATOM !

What I like best about it is that it covers the bases but doesn't look like any other provider's website that I know about.

I feel like FreeVPS.org ought to send you and @ravi each a big check, but it's a free project and doesn't have any funding yet.

Want to provide a brief install hint?

Any suggestion on how to provide a back end so users can click to apply, check application status, get approved, and then install/ reinstall/ delete their VPS?

    Thanks again!

Oh, okay. I thought we were just doing the landing page and redirect to this thread. Adding backend stuff should be very interesting :)

I don't know how proxmox works or the sysadmin stuff, but we should be able to implement an API between that and the website.

For the tech stack, we can use Flask/ Django/ nodejs as a backend and react for the frontend like @ravi did (hext is great btw!). Though I am not much familiar with react, I will try to catch up soon as I am already working in Angular.

If we plan on going Flask for the backend, let me know. I can help with that.

@Not_Oles @TheOnlyDK do you have any sample proxmox instance I could test the API against?

I am planning to use Django for this PoC as I need to submit a capstone project for CS50x by the end of this month, and so I can try to hit two birds with one stone

Hi @iamATOM I think I remember @FatGrizzly mentioning that he had or was going to set up a test Proxmox instance. Maybe you could use that test instance? What do you think, FG?

@iamATOM I will look at some additional alternatives and PM you.

    Thanks again very much! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think it's better to use a test instance for proxmox, but we might not stick to it and might switch over to virtfusion (or alternatives) if it works better. No decision has been made just yet but it's a possibility.

Hi @iamATOM! Looks like some time has passed and the other guys on the FreeVPS team decided to try Blesta and Virtfusion. Plus we got two additional servers on which Blesta and Virtfusion are being set up. So do you want to do the FreeVPS site without needing the entire backend via the Proxmox API? Everybody on the team liked your design! We have a team personal message group set up on Discord, and we could add you to it if you like Discord. Here is equally fine, of course. Sending this as a PM too. Thanks for considering! Best! Tom
