    Update:
We have just put some "budget" KVM plans live: https://greencloudvps.com/billing/store/new-location-sale

Starting from only $15/year for 2GB RAM DDR4, E5 CPU, RAID-10 SSD and 10Gbps port.
Only available in Kansas City, MO now but more locations will be available soon.
In the near future, we will offer 2 types of products when we are slowly upgrading hardware in almost all locations:

    • Budget line: From $15/year with E5v4 CPUs, DDR4, RAID-10 SSD and 10Gbps port
    • Premium line: From $4/mo or $25/year with Ryzen/EPYC CPUs, RAID-1/RAID-10 NVMe 4.0, 10Gbps port

Please let us know if you have any feedbacks so we can improve that.

The new Budget plans now available in Hong Kong DC2. More locations are coming!

BudgetKVMHK-2 is out of stock, will you re-stock?

I have just added a few more BudgetKVMHK-2 in stock. There will be more stock when unpaid orders cancelled too.

    Will there be type BudgetKVMHK-1?

Unfortunately no BudgetKVMHK-1 now due to the high cost in APAC.

Anyone got BudgetKVMHK-2's CPU and fio benchmark?
Wonder how it performs compared to my BF $25 at the same price.

It's standard for KVMs to lose some RAM for the kernel. That said, it's a bit more lost than usual so maybe they also did RAM in decimal GB.

  • Is there any channel that can let me know whether your Hong Kong server is in stock or not? Every time you come, it's out of stock? Did you notify the group? Such as TG group.

@lxz7758521 i've found it is in-stock now - 26 orders are available @6:35pm (GMT+8), and gone @6:45pm (10 mins gap). I've also found, "let's chat" appear at the bottom of their page, that means something. may need a bot for the order

Currently sold out for the BudgetKVMHK-2 plan, we will have more in stock when a new IPv4 block available, now waiting for APNIC to finish the transfer. Maybe we will replenish it on the 4th of July Sale.

I want to buy a server to run a discord bot as a coding project.
I read that bots are against the rules. I googled it and discord is technically still IRC.

GreenCloud does not allow usage of IRC clients, servers, bots, or other IRC technology.

I don't know though, I feel like discord is much more then an IRC. Anyways, please lmk so I can order one or not. :)

We do allow bots, so Discord is fine. In most cases IRC should be fine too if it does not attract too many DDoS attacks.

    According to Greencloud

Because IRC usage attracts a disproportional amount of denial of service attacks, GreenCloud does not allow usage of IRC clients, servers, bots, or other IRC technology.

So, if there is IRC application being attacked, can Greencloud firewall protect other servers or not?

What kind of question is this? No public network is immune to attacks, it depend just from the size and type of attacks.
Their TOS clearly state no IRC (because of ddos risk) while @NDTN above expressed some leniency toward IRC usage as long it's not problematic (which is great news btw) so there's your answer.
They won't bother you as long your usage don't cause problems however if you expect attacks then it may be not good idea to use this host for IRC.

@Mumbly This hosting term from Greencloud confused me a little.

IF a DoS victim (non-IRC) facing same level of IRC DoS, will all the rest of vps under same firewall be affected (e.g. down time) or only the single vps will be affected?

IF only the single vps (IRC installed) victim will be affected, then why there is this IRC term?

I would say GreenCloud's T&C is good and necessary to their business. So don't forget to back up your data.

May I ask about the CPU policy for a 4-core VPS? Given that 30% average usage is allowed as stated in the TOS, does it mean one can use 120% out of 400% at any time aka 1 dedicated core?

It's 30% per core, so it should not exceed 100% a core constantly. We take actions (warning/turn off/suspend) only when we have high load on the nodes. But it rarely happens as normally our nodes have load < 20.
