What's the regulation requirement for hosting a payment gateway?
Does PCI-DSS allow hosting a payment gateway on shared hardware where you are vulnerable to side-channel attacks and lack end-of-life control?

  • You need a server based on SG.. Cheaper one would be GreenCloudVPS, HostHatch, Leaseweb, MaxKVM, NexusByte, WebHorizon, WebHosting24.

But for better availability and upgrade, choose Linode, Vultr, or DO.

  • Stability? Well, AWS/Azure will be your best choices

If you want something stable, avoid any hosts on LET.

Get a server in Singapore with one of the big "cloud" providers and reconsider your 8-cores requirement.

If you need scalability, stability and good support, typical LET providers are not for you.

Able to scale when needed will eliminate most of the host on LET.

Your only choice would be the big BIG 3, vultr, digital Ocean, and OVH.

But if you serious about scaling, avoid VPS altogether.

Go serverless. Hidup tenang tanpa beban.

My intention is to split the website into 3 parts: 1 server for the db (can be either aws/gcloud/alibaba), and 2 other servers fo the website, so in case 1 website down, i can relocate the domain to the 2nd one

You still have a single point of failure. If your db is down, everything is down. But I guess your frontend can display maintenance if the db is not reachable. I would think two low end vps would be cheaper and more reliable than 1 vps from the big players. (But is the hassle really worth it?)

vps is still shared, i dont think it is secure enough for a payment gateway my man

i think you need dedicated (separate) hardware since you are handling sensitive data

"Payment gateway" and "I am a noob" should never be in the same line unless you are really willing to go down in literal flames later.

    Go, shoo, go away.

Is it secure enough if i put all the data in a cdn? or a dedicated server is a must?

If you're a noob as you have stated, best option is to use a 3rd party payment gateway instead of doing it yourself. There's a lot at stake with payment data, this is not something you should DIY if you've never done it before or have very little experience.

A real possibility to go behind bars if you mess up.

So, heed my advice and stop it.

  • Leaseweb SG!

Several years with them, production. Some of my VPS even got 350 days++ uptime record.

  • AWS Jakarta will be open very soon, meanwhile, you can use AWS Singapore.
