They just wrote a few minutes ago on Twitter:

Important information about the winter special: After we took the product online around 6 p.m. yesterday (without even posting it on social media), the orders exploded. We had to set it to sold out at 12 noon and are still working on deliveries. - https://twitter.com/phpfriends

Does this means they are overselling terribly?

    I don’t think so.
I have been using cpu aggressively 24x7 for ML algorithms. No issues.

A leading provider whose name begins with C… suggested me not to go for their VPS as it may not be suitable for ML algorithms.

looks good I'd say. cpu single core 670 is pretty much what you can get from that cpu at standard frequency (no boost) and multicore scaling on it is pretty much the highest you can get from that then.

if it stays in that range once the node got filled and people put it to work, that would be awesome. SSD speeds are good as well as network which tops out over Gbit ... so far happy with it.

sorry @plumberg , I think you should have bought one, now you might not be able to get one anymore... :-P

Looks good! But glad I got my refund - I have a similar ryzen machine with 6 cores at the same price as the 8 score PHP offer!

O boy. Now I am feeling left out. I want the v4.... this looks yummy.

yeah makes sense. I think even with 8 cores and the so far pretty good scaling you would not hit the 5k with that E5. also really need to wait a few days, to see how it might change with more stuff going on ;-)

haha, yeah, I didn't really care to be honest. it's good to have a somewhat newer CPU I guess, however you can get reasonable good numbers from older stuff as well:

    Basic System Information:

  • Definitely a good buy nevertheless, @PHP_Friends been nothing but great since I've started using them. The only thing I'm curious about is how effective their ddos protection is, thankfully I never needed it so far.

  • Got one. Great. Does anyone need it

Yeah, tried it a few more times and it seems to sit on 1800-2000. Can they specify 8 threads to 4 cores ? Seems to be what is happening. Not very happy with the result tbh.

It's weird that it's similar to the 4 core machine

@TODO yeah that doesnt seem good

Yeah, tried it a few more times and it seems to sit on 1800-2000. Can they specify 8 threads to 4 cores ? Seems to be what is happening. Not very happy with the result tbh.

Everyone YABS/updates their machines now, ofc score will be lower. Wait couple of hours and score will be higher. This is shared machine and Geekbench needs plenty of CPU cache to get good results. Everyone is spamming for CPU cache right now, because everyone is benchmarking, reinstalling, testing etc.

  • For comparison here's YABS from Schnupperspecial 2021 - offer from last month. 5.12euro/mo with 12mo contract. This offer (Winter Special) has better multi-core CPU result, but worse network speed and drive. I think both were great deals, depending on your use-case. You can also notice that my GB5 score is scaling nicely, it is always around that score, never throttles.

I got the 4 core 8Gb on a E5-2630 v4 node Geekbench scores are on the low end, doing a GB or anything CPU heavy the CPU steal is a total joke.

     %Cpu(s): 40.1 us, 2.7 sy, 0.0 ni, 0.0 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.3 si, 56.9 st

when doing GB was constantly hovering round 20-30% spiking to over 70%.

None of my cheap yearly BF vm which don't claim to be dedicated cpu not got cpu steal anywhere like this, a few do steal sometimes but under 1-2% when under very high cpu usage.

I'd open a ticket. could be that they got more orders than what they could deliver instantly and put people on older nodes for now. hopefully can move you to a fresh node soon, if they get the time to set it up in the next few days.. just guessing though.
