I tried ordering this but the offer ran out after I'd clicked to pay but before the page loaded, so the amount due had gone up to $12. Any chance of making it $5 please? Invoice number is 15378.

Hi @Cam, any thoughts on this? I was surprised by this after clicking through to pay the $5.

69 push-ups are done and recorded. It'll take a few hours for encoding on the laptop.
What's good for "Razens" if you would get suspended for using 100% CPU to encode videos?

In the meanwhile, I finished the setup on the $1 in Canada that I got this morning, and ran a benchmark.

This 3.70MB/s disk speed would not be enough to deliver push-up videos via HTTP, but with Named Data Networking and its in-network caching capabilities, it would be possible.

    69 push-ups have been uploaded.

    push-ups

Videos are delivered over the global Named Data Networking (NDN) testbed. Each of the 37 routers have content caching capabilities.
Your browser, called a consumer, connects to the nearest node that supports WebSockets, and sends Interest packets that carry the content names.
If the router has Data packets of the same name in its cache, it will satisfy the requests immediately. Otherwise, it will send the Interest packets toward other routers, until the Interest reaches a producer node that hosts a repository of the original Data packets.

I'm currently operating two repository nodes: one in Gullo Canada 128MB, the other in MaxKVM Singapore 512MB.
The global NDN network (operating as a UDP overlay) will automatically select the forwarding paths according to user location and current network condition. There is no GeoDNS or anycast.

At this moment, bandwidth usage readings of my origin servers are 8.16GB and 2.82GB. The video file sizes are: 360p 14.7MB, 480p 20.1MB, 720p 54.0MB, audio 3.44MB.
If enough people watch my push-ups, I'll share bandwidth usage numbers in next few days. I expect in-network caching to save most of my bandwidth.

I'd rather do another 69 push-ups than npm install 789 packages in 128MB RAM.
In short: it's impossible. pnpm crashes in a few seconds. npm doesn't finish after 3 minutes.
I have to run npm install on a bigger machine and copy the node_modules folder.

Maybe I need to rewrite the repository program in Go, so that it can be compiled to a static binary in GitHub Actions, and it takes less RAM to run.

A PhD degree in computer networking will be helpful in understanding these.
I didn't invent Named Data Networking, but I have a hand in most of the software platform: forwarder, cache, repository, certificate authority, ..., except the routing protocol.

    :p :p any chance for bundle sale? like 128mb x 2 location at $3 :#

(sorry for my shamelessness o:) )

    I wish I could! Blesta doesn't have bundles :(

  • :p manual-ticket ? >:)

I feel that separate 128 MB NAT VPSes (but more of them) would be better - trying to catch one since the beginning without any luck.

Saw the offer in the mega thread, tried to buy right away, but was unable to get one either.

I feel someone has automated the purchase process and buying them all within seconds

I got that one, but I was already actively lurking in the thread. Being online and constantly refreshing LET seems to be the only way to even have a chance at getting any flash sales anymore xD.

8GB RAM, 50-100GB HDD (doesn't have to be SSD), some CPU, Docker allowed. I'm planning to play around with Eclipse CHE, and minimum requirements for that is 4GB RAM. Since that will be private "play around", that is going to be time to time, so not that intensive for the host.
As mentioned in the previous comment, I would take it for <=20USD/y without any hesitation :)

Oh geshh you drive a hard bargain ill try to come up with something for you tomorrow

I didn't forget about you. Just need to do some inventory :)

    Don't forget me too :D

With that kind of specs, I'm sold already. Please count me in too

Though I don't need anywhere around 8Gb ram. Around 2/3 should be good. Heck, I'll even settle for 1. But 2 would be really good. 100GB HDD is fine. Not looking for a lot of bandwidth too. 1TB is more than sufficient! Planning to run a personal Nextcloud instance on it
