I was surprised to actually catch the second tiny encore in my shopping cart (just to see if I finally could ... then I tossed it back)

Well those picked 2 SJ Big may cry and ask refund

  • the big San José deal is just a wee bit more than I'm looking for at the moment ...

not a bad deal (depending on the performance of cpu, disk i/o, and network I guess)

divide everything by 10 and see how it stacks up (ie, if it were $19.02 per year with 1.6 GB ram and 32 GB SSD)

Considering I'm currently paying $12 a month for a KVM in Fremont with 8 GB ram, 2 semi-dedicated cores and 100 GB storage (ceph) - so the 16 GB ram San José deal certainly could be competitive in terms of price if paying monthly were an option ...

still holding out for that $21.17 special request to scratch my San José itch :)

    $21.17
    3456 MB RAM
    3 vcores
    30 GB SSD
    1 TB transfer
    San José por favor
    no windows
    no captcha
billing server does not catch fire
also a pony would be nice
    debian thx

I remember you mentioning your $4 store credit a couple of times, so every time I see these sub-4 deals, I keep hoping you get one... Still no dice it seems...

I would like Virmach remove their resource restriction on high-end machines. These machines are paid enough to deserve premium performance and service, I don't want got my machine suspended after pressure.

Unlucky timings - mostly posted when I am sleeping, that one few minutes ago I decided to go for a healthy walk. With this rate I should kinda give up and wait for Christmas Flash Sale with EU servers - I mean 4$ per year EU server sounds even more yummy.

I have pretty good experience with VirMach support - never ask for very much but they seem very reasonable the few times I do need something special. I suspect they are happy to do what they can to accommodate customers who are spending more than a couple dollars a month. (I'm not a big customer, but altogether I spent maybe about $200 last year - mostly on Black Friday specials ... and mostly idling all but a few of them. This year I paid annual renewals of about $100, and ordered another $48 server.)

tl;dr: maybe at some point open a ticket with their sales department to see what they can do for you. And also shop around with other providers to see what a fair price for good stable service actually should be - there is only so low they can go after all. I would consider these promotions to be subsidized by their marketing budget, really.

I had a couple of windows server from BF 2018. One of my idling server was hacked (was using a 2008 winOS), and resulted in high CPU usage. Support shut down the server and sent me an email about the high usage and that I should just boot it back up when I get a chance. Since it was an idling server that I didn't use, I didn't bother starting it up. After about two weeks of this, support sent me another email saying they noticed no activity from me and wanted to know if there was something that I needed help with.

Overall, I find @VirMach support extremely good and nice about the whole situation especially considering they didn't even know my server was hacked.

Edit: I think the manual deals used up, and now virbot get in charge of deals...

  • My interaction with VirMach support during last 2 years is top notch. I have no complain regarding their support.

  • I just woke up and everything was gone.

  • Seems @VirMach had out of manual deals, although I missed a lot, but huge thanks for that!

Well, finally I can head to bed.

  • I need to stop watching this thread and black friday VIRMACH page. For no planned usecase I now have 4 shiny server ready for idling! Do we have any recommendation for a cheap cloud control panel to manage multiple server (self hosted would be fine as well tries ISPconfig didn't like)? Used runcloud before but my servers are cheap and I need a cheap panel too :)

  • I am waiting for sub $7 / year VPSes...
