in my experience with xeon gold 1 core feels like 3-4 cores of an e3.

    What?

I'm saying that the xeon gold processor feels significantly faster than an e3, for example. Maybe not exactly 3-4 times, but you get the idea :)

Shouldn’t e3’s be faster if its a dedicated thread?

That probably depends on what E3 you're referring to?

Yeah, most of the newer ones. The older ones don’t seem to be significantly slower though.

Probably because most E3's are oversold.

Probably. Good call. Depends on the host.
Our hospital does not oversell so even our E3's are nippy with plenty of additional resources to spare when it is deemed full.
Also, @muffin, we do not sell anything dedicated on any of our E3 instances as they are not powerful enough so the difference between a E3 and the Gold will always be noticeable.
Our Gold offerings are hard to come by and hard to beat for the fluidity of operation and the sheer beast that lays under the hood. All RAM on the Gold is dedicated regardless of plan as we have 320GB on a Dual Xeon Gold 6128 so no matter who you are, the difference will always be noticeable.
Want the feel of a dedicated bare metal? Get one of our Gold plans.

  • @HostDoc Your dual storage yearly pricing states the yearly calculated price at per month. Might want to fix that because I did a double-take seeing that.

Are you referring to the prices on our main site or flash sales?
Our main site offers no discounts on an annual subscription versus a monthly one, however, a few plans may have 1 month free included.
If it is the main site, there is no error with the prices.

    Thanks.

  • @HostDoc I think a screenshot will be clearer. It is a small error in that the per month did not change to per year.

Thanks for that. I see what you mean. At checkout, it is cheaper.
Okay, will have a dig into this later.

    Regards.

    Yes, that is possible.
If you let us know before the third month payment, then the annual invoice will be presented on your 3rd month rather than a monthly invoice.
Please note, if you have a subscription, you will need to cancel it.

err a bit confuse. what do you mean by "cancel it"? so i cannot continue using the existing subscription that paid using a monthly basis converted to the anual payment?

  • I think that means paypal subscription which sends a monthly payment automatically. You have to turn that on and off independently of the hosting plan. It's a frequent cause of confusion when someone cancels a VPS and doesn't understand why they keep getting charged for it.

You would need to cancel the existing subscription as you will continue being charged monthly even after changing to an annual plan.

Go to PayPal and cancel the existing monthly payment

As mentioned you can run KVM. You can even install Proxmox (it's free) and set up your own VPSs inside of your VPS including KVM and LXC containers.

Its good stuff. If really concerned about getting those numbers, run about 3 times.

There is a problem which i had on my last order aswell. When i configure my VPS on your website it says Unlimited BW for the upper 2 plans, but when i order then it gets limited to 2TB. All other plans show 2TB / 1TB accordingly. Why is that ?

  • Are the cores dedicated or shared?

Could you please elaborate or provide links, screenshots or be more specific as to the issue you have faced.
There is a single offer in this thread so I am slightly discombobulated what you refer to as the upper 2 plans. Unless you mean our promo site?

For this thread, the cores are shared (25%/vCore).
We do have dedicated instances in Arizona. Check this thread
