bring on the i5 ... i5 ... i5 ... i5...
i5 i5
--- i5
-- i5
Not this time, but I will try my best to have some for the next one
I think this is by far the cheapest I've ever seen for a KS with a 2TB disk and the N2800 Atoms (I really can't bring myself to go any lower with the D425s - the N2800 is already a struggle on many fronts).
Why is my wallet so easily accessible when I want it hidden?
@ninzo59 - again only RBX - why is it so hard to get GRA stock on these?
@Nekki - I prefer 2x 6€ N2800 (2TB/4GB RAM) over the 1x 9€ N2800 (2x2TB/4GB RAM) mainly because I get 2 separate 100Mbit pipes and processors
Anyone got any surprises this time around?
That would be great!
Good deals anyway.
@nullnothere I don't think there are surprises this round (i5 when i3 was advertised was in FR, not sure it happened in CA as well - and I doubt there will be surprises with the N2800 but maybe).
For few weeks, only stock we have in KS / FR are in RBX. We provide less new KS production in GRA than RBX. I don't have the reason though.
Tagging @willie - now's the time to look at the BHS i3 which is way better than the N2800.
@ninzo59 - last time you had posted, there was a debate on whether or not the KS models will get an upgrade network port wise.
Any inside information - is it at all likely that we'll see more than 100MBit on these models?
Thanks! Bought 1, hoping for good network speeds and a good disk :-)
-edit- received in 3 minutes, installing now
@ninzo59 will the KS-9 (with SSD) ever go on a flash sale?
@sin - how does the disk look? Did you snag an upgrade over what was intended?
EDIT2:
Removed text.
That's factually incorrect, because KS doesn't use 2.5" HDDs.
Well recognized, sir.
Any ideas about the manufacturer?
Hitachi/HGST Ultrastar 7K4000
no upgrade network planned so far.
I doubt we will make some flash sale on Intel Xeon W3520 servers before some time.
It looks good, no errors but 24000 poweron hours (was hoping to finally snag one with a relatively new disk! but these Ultrastars last for like ever). No upgrades, just the advertised 2130.
Network looks great so far, I'm always nervous buying Kimsufis now ever since I got one of those ones with the really shitty network speeds.
All and all, great buy! These are great deals for $10.99/month.
Nope.
Hint: WD.
He answered you what OVH/KS uses in these servers. They do not use WD.
OK.
My bad.
I need some sleep I guess...
Thanks.
I'm wondering why these aren't disappearing like they used to in the past?
I remember the older KS Flash sales (granted they were typically i3/i5) used to be huge crowd pullers and they were gone in a flash most of the times.
Now, these are still available despite them being great value and comparable to the older deals.
What gives? Has everybody just moved on to Gbit now?
From my experience, the KS's pretty much give you 100Mbit pretty much right through to most destinations consistently. I've not seen that with any of the other providers (not Online, not Hetzner, not most of the other VPS providers with Gbit links and not even on 10G VPSs - sometimes it's a struggle to even get 7-8MB/s over an extended duration).
I'm seriously reconsidering my network options now.
I guess everyone who wanted one, got one by now. Either on a sale, or on the regular pricing, which is not that far off the sale price anyway (at only 25-40% discount, not even 50%).
As reminder, there was way less flash sale offers in the past. Moreover, we tend to have more stocks when we do flash sale (vs 2 years ago). That can explains why you see offer still available after 1-2 days
I think there are still folks who want one. I'm debating acquiring more idlers (and I'm convincing myself on the value of these) - one can never have enough - I'm officially an addict.
Aah - that explains it probably. Maybe we need a steeper discount as @rm_ has pointed out.
If you compare price we did two years ago vs now, those current deals are cheaper (and seems most of servers are the same, that's logic).
The "25% off" only on KS-3 is because.. KS-3 is already cheap. We can't give these for free (infrasctructure cost, electricity, network, employees...)
Sure. Point is that if someone wanted one, they might have already gotten it some time ago for the stock price which is already quite cheap, and the sale is not cheaper by much.
On the other hand if you'd make it 50% off and sell for 3.99 EUR, then people who do not need one would get to buying :) And then you'd not see it stay in stock for this long.
Maybe selling as many as possible of them, disregarding profit, is not the objective.
Any one get me that cheap box ! .
Stuck on the island with poor connectivity do sucks 😵
In my time, people could get a dedicated server for 2,99€...
Oh... those were the days.
These young kids of today don't know nothing, they don't even know a smartphone is a computer.
They don't know how it used to be, the internet. ISO8951 only characters... ROT13... paying 150€ for your monthly internet bill...
Dumb kids.
