Do you support installing Windows operating system trojan?

  • I very happy with my dedicated server in the Sofia datacenter. And the support is amazing, I made a mistake with mine network settings and before I knew it Alex was reinstalling the machine on a Sunday.

    Keep it the good work.

Why the fuck would you need a reinstall to bring up an interface?

it's like turning it off and back on again ... but better.

    EDIT2:

seriously tho - I usually install from ISO image but sometimes wonder what setting info I might glean from re-installing from the host's provided template.

Whether it's more work to re-install, check settings (such as network interface info) and then re-re-install from ISO again ... vs spending time poking around host's site or perish the thought, opening a ticket for the details ... I dunno, sometimes reinstalling is the path of least resistance.

Since a quick perusal of the control panel probably will yield the details I'm wondering about, it usually doesn't come to re-installing - but it can be a decent "no ticket" way to discover configuration details for a given provider that (hopefully) will have some likelyhood of working properly.

I've been using Alpine so much with Docker that I just put it on one of my backup NS boxes native, and it's pretty darn usable. Don't forget to use a -virtual kernel though.

have to say, Porteus on a thumb drive is a really nice replacement for the dozen floppy disks it used to take to load slackware (on an i386 with 16 mb ram - actually pretty snappy running ncsa mosaic browser under twm / x-window system ... in the days before javascript was a thing.)

EDIT2: And alpine is also a joy to easily run from ram on a raspberry pi.

EDIT3: while I see neither alpine nor slackware in the list of ISOs provided by alphavps, they do have netboot.xyz (and coreOS), so easy enough to install whatever.

looking at the first post of this thread - I see they offer Choopa in New Jersey but their Los Angeles offer is indeed at Colocrossing.

    EDIT2:

They're like Chuck Norris, and VirMach I suppose: neither sockpuppet nor summerhost ... and, due to their enduring faith in humanity and ever-present moral compass, somehow strong enough to survive the rot and corruption that comes with the territory.

    EDIT3:

To be clear: one day a real rain will come to wash all the filth from the streets of this city ...

And I fully expect alphavps will be among the survivors.

The machine was unreachable because of a stupid mistake on my part. I was in the middle of installing everything I needed so asking for a reinstall was much quicker and easier. Unlike a vps the machine doesn't have a nice web gui to fix stuff. Point being that Alexander is a great guy who goes out of his way to make his customers happy. And delivers top notch support to his clients.

To my mind, any provider that allows installation by ISO should make the (minimal) effort to put their network configuration details in their panel or at least in a knowledge-base entry. It would save time and frustration on both sides.

Tried placing an order for 2G KVM. Got an error saying my card (the same one I use every day to shop online, pay for AWS, Digital Ocean, etc) could not be verified. Will look elsewhere. Thanks.

    Hello.
You do not allow torrents in your TOS. What does it mean? Does this mean that it is not allowed to launch a torrent client on a VPS, or is P2P traffic basically prohibited?

looking at the first post of this thread - I see they offer Choopa in New Jersey but their Los Angeles offer is indeed at Colocrossing.

Just noticed this - I want to point out that we have multiple racks of owned gear in Bulgaria, multiple machines in DE, UK and NJ and our smallest footprint is LA with CC. I personally have nothing bad to say against them, as I never really had an issue with services there (other than the odd lack of IPv6). But to everyone - please, don't compare us to companies ran fully or mostly out of their locations. I do thank you for the post, though.

  • @AlexBarakov when is all the downtime fixed with the shared hosting packages?

AlphaVPS doesn't even have shared hosting? Sure you don't mean AlphaRacks? My condolences if you decided to buy something from the latter.

  • Had issue with VPS getting provisioned automatically, and @AlexBarakov assisted personally, apologized and even offered a small compensation. Alex also put up with me wanting to change plans when I realized I couldn't live with OpenVZ and wanted KVM instead.

VPS with AlphaBG is settled finally (just waiting on a move from UK to BG). I was very impressed overall with him and his team's paitence.

This misunderstanding is tragic, and I've fallen for it too when I wasn't paying attention.

  • one day a real rain will come ...

  • I couldn't hold it

  • not sure what happend after my bench, seems like now it is much better performance all-round. good for those looking for UK vps if this is performance stays.
