Well, 16hours later I had 2 replies to my ticket.

1 was "Try now.... " which showed the same results of them not fixing anything.

2 "What IP are you having a problem with" this is after initial ticket specified ALL VPSs in my account.

Can we start a vote for the Top Asshat Service Award yet?

  • It's a shame actually, woot finally got to the point where most of their problems were getting addressed and then alpharacks buys them out and it turns into an absolute gong show.

  • aRNoLDaRNoLD Member

Their customer service asked my permission to proceed to address an old problem on my machine, but after that, there was no response or any followups. Then after some time, the ticket was closed while my issue still remained unhandled.

It's understandable, as they just acquired a few companies, and they should be busy.

Alpharacks is still in business?? Horrible! They'll lie multiple times, and can't even provide a proper service as ordered. It took their entire team to figure out how to refund me properly. I'm embarrassed to say I tried their service once -- never again. Owner Josh Collishaw should shut it down.

I'm not sure if the real owner of Alpharacks is called Josh Collishaw

I had a VPS with Alpharack about 2 years ago and cancelled it due to constantly having to open tickets with support because it was slow or down. I moved to Woothosting and things were fine, then horror or horrors I saw that Alpharacks had purchased Woot. I thought maybe things had improved but here is what has happened so far.
They migrated my VPS to a new host node with no notification that this would happen. I only realised when I received a email from uptime robot to say my website was down and opened a ticket with Alpharacks to ask what was wrong? This resulted in about 2 days of downtime for my website as I had to update the DNS to point to a new IP.

They claim their new host server is more powerful than the old woothosting server but yet I find it the opposite, even ssh has a lag like your connecting over a dial up even though I am on fibre, and as of this moment it is not responding at all and so I have had to open a ticket.
Needless to say I won't be renewing unless things get drastically better in the next few months.

Well, I was down for nearly 48 hours.... they finally managed to fix timing time on all but 1 VPS. The funny part is I HAD to tell them where the problem was.. ME, a person that normally does not use Linux and has to learn a command at a time. I seriously think they just get some random people off the street to do tech support.... nobody can be THAT incompetent.

Two days have passed since I opened the ticket with Alpharacks about the VPS. It is now back online but is extremely slow.
I have been on to their support about this several times and get messages such as:
"we will check and update you" then no response for over 12 hours. Another message of "we have made some changes and it should now be ok" but yet when I run a couple of simple command line tests the performance is still crap.

    dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=2048 | md5sum
    2048+0 records in
    2048+0 records out
    2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB) copied, 15.3737 s, 140 MB/s

This tests the cpu performance by running a MD5 checksum. Previously has completing this in around 6 seconds and be achieving 300 MB/s so it is half the CPU performance it should be and yet the load on the VPS is 0 according to running TOP.

Download speed is an appalling 800KB/s on average when doing bench.sh bandwidth testing, on a 100mb connection it should be around 15x that number.

I have told Alpharacks support these benchmark tests each time they claim it is fixed and yet it is still the same 2 days later.

I have 5 VPS transferred from another host 3 are up 2 are still down for nearly 5 days.

They started the migration process without any prior notification, after data transfer activity, they are not able to spin up my VPS and stating that my server OS is crashed.

Long story short after a lot of followup's they agreed to provide backup and I received only folder structure of my servers. few folders contain some data otherwise all empty.

As per my understanding, they didn't transfer my complete data from old server and vps getting failed to start on new server

My 2 Servers contains around 50 user account  really pissed with their support.

any legal why to take action against AlphaRacks?

But why are you hosting your clients on alpharacks? Or woot? Or nfp? That's just insulting to your customers, I honestly hope you don't charge them users lol.. legal action, that's cute.

  • shaqeelshaqeel Member

Most of the users are doing the same, reselling but the point is here how these sort of companies (Alpharacks) ruined it.

their customer support even not technically sound, you have to explain what to do next.

You had 50 users on one of the providers (NFP, Woot, HostMyBytes) recently acquired
by Alpharacks? Just hope one of the 50 doesn't sue you. Did you have backups?

I just found out when doing a lookup online of the IP of my VPS with Alpharack is the Chicago based VPS i purchased when I was with Woothosting is now on a host node in Latvia!
I put this to Alpharacks support asking why it was moved to a completely different country and can it be move back to a US based datacentre, and the have so far ignored the ticket with no reply in over 24 hours.

Whois lookup can mean anything.. Most of the time it's just GEO data for the whois...

    Do a traceroute.......

    Thanked by 1uptime
  • ZurgZurg Member

lol, Figured it wouldn't last....3 day uptime... and now none of the VPSs are even accessible. Cant even get to the portal to open a ticket.
    Pfff....

Does anyone know of a provider that offers similar "working" setup... a pool of VPSs where I can adjust on the fly? I am mainly running Master Nodes... nothing to critical (besides uptime) but nothing I am willing to part with a lot of $ either.
Heck I might try to get these running on my SYS server I just got on sale with 16 IPs...

    @vapornode has resource pools.
