you were on my SH igel winestra thin client (http://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/Igel/4210/index.shtml) running OVZ in 1 gb Ram 32 GB CF "drive" and an 32 bit cpu?
    :o

Hey! No jokes about them Igels! I have a couple of them reliably running since 5+ years (well, as routers, windows shit boxen, small home office servers, etc.). They are very low on power and silent, too. And I got them 2nd hand from a very good source for 20 to 25 €. Some of them also have smartcard readers and/or a pc-card slot, plus, of course, the standard pci slot. Also handy: the via c7 has a hw crypto engine (padlock).

I like hat parkytowers site, too. It's just great, all them tiny boxen plus specs and board porn. It's due to him that I bought some 5€ low end boxen, slammed alpine on them and used them as print servers and things like that.

Nice to see another fan, here.

I have 2 and gave more to various friends most as silent linux iso boxes. I also bought some ide cables and fitted them with 20-60 GB disks from dead laptops. One is 1 ghz the other 800 Mhz variant.
And I do not joke, i really run ovz on the 1 Ghz one with Tor relays some time ago, precisely because of the crypto engine. Now is a real thin client, a perfect match for my monitor, I run RDP on it, sadly has to run in XP because i could not fit any of the openchrome drivers to support my resolution correctly. If you have some ideas in that field, I would be very grateful :)

Sorry, can't help there as I use windows only for occasional gaming and for shit boxen (e.g. I have a nice label printer that I use with windows due to drivers). As for the version or any tricks, I'm utterly windows-ignorant and avoid it like the pestilence it is, typically setting it up and keep it for 5 and more years without changes or updates or whatever (of course it wouldn't strike my mind to connect a windows box to the network).

Moreover I'm graphics ignorant. Just got a new graphics card and chose for only 1 property: low power consumption (in case anyone is interested, it's an nvidia 1030) With them Igels I just use whatever they have on board because for windows I don't care shit and for bsd I use cli only.

I'll pass. I will wait until he drops this firm again and return to vpsdatabase. Or, better, when he finally merge those "firms" and create the ultimate VenetSlayerDatabase!

Right. I don't even know what openchrome is; some graphics stuff I guess. Sorry.

He opened an appeal ticket and claims

    • everyone who got the email has bought services from him since April of 2012

    • He was previously owned VPSDatabase/VENETX but that domain expired due to an auto renewal mistake.

    • He transferred customers over from VPSDatabase/VENETX

Reading this thread, there are multiple reputable LET members who state they never had service with HostSlayer or its predecessors.

I don't think so but I don't know. He says in the ticket: "As I knew this was a job I wanted to do and assure everyone we were not going to change or go anywhere. I have personally put my last of savings I had to assure my business would stay afloat for years."

If he had just answered the questions and stated this is where the client details were from then people would have been pissed(and rightfully so) but would have accepted it.

It's the lack of information provided that's the problem and this shouldn't have waited until he was banned before it came out. I would like to hear if the other users receiving the spam have been clients of VPSDatabase or VENETX.

  • He's even banned on WHT for being shifty, don't waste your time with him. The fact he denies that he couldn't get a job at McDonalds just shows that he's lying cos I know from a close friend that he couldn't get one at McDonalds.

Now we have a backup reason to ban him. I thought "spetznashost.com" was just some design work he'd done...but apparently it's his own brand.

It's running WHMCS right now (and no, it's not some similar app as the page source is clearly WHMCS as well):

    But alas...

Exactly! 100% this! I even gave him the opportunity to make things better and even if the answer was bad I still would have respected him for being honest. I don't expect individuals to tell the truth online about everything, but I expect companies to answer honestly when asked a straight forward question both in public and private.

He never told that he had previous companies that dissolved in a night and there were he got our client's details. He told that only after he banned and be revealed here:

jvnadr said: Well, I did some digging and I found from where he has my details. He is the previous owner of VenetX that closed in a night and, before that, the owner of VPSdatabase that he closed it in 2014 because he... turned 19 years old and he was not interested anymore! I had a plan from vpsdatabase from 2013 (!) for a couple of months.

Hmm, well impersonating a government official is illegal in every country. Might as well report it to see if he gets a prison sentence or hung. If neither, then shit.. its legit.

Yep. I know. This admission only came public from himself when he was banned which is what I was stating was an issue as he should have just admitted where the data was from.

I would like to know if the other few people who were spammed were a customer of any of his previous brands and this is just him using his old databases or if something else.

I guess it'd be down to @Stevie to confirm if he was a client of either of those brands.

  • @IThinkUFailed

Yea I thought I did post this, but I did sign up in 2016 to host slayer but canceled a few days later (got a refund) because the control panel was so bugged at the time, it did not let me reload a os or even login - it was a mess. this is based on the email I read but I did not know when I first posted on this thread.
